‘Mean Girls’ star Jonathan Bennett and Jaymes Vaughan are engaged

“Mean Girls” star Jonathan Bennett is engaged. His longtime boyfriend, “Celebrity Page” host Jaymes Vaughan, proposed to Bennett recently with a sweet song he wrote for him.

While Bennett, 39, was in Canada filming “The Christmas House” for Hallmark, Vaughan partnered with a friend to write and compose the original tune. The proposal was a complete surprise to Bennett, who thought he was taking family Christmas card photos that day.

“My sister shouted for me to come outside ‘real quick’ and my FOMO kicked in so I ran outside,” Bennett told People. “Then I looked over and saw Jaymes holding a sign that said ‘We never did find our song, so I wrote it for you.’ That’s when I knew I was getting proposed to because it was the same type of sign he made when he told me loved me for the first time. And then I began to ugly-cry the ugliest cry anyone has ever cried.”

“I think the most special thing about our relationship is that we are actually each other’s best friend first and foremost,” Vaughan told People of their bond. “And he’s also pretty fun to look at!”

For his part, Bennett says he loves that his soon-to-be husband allows him to be “unapologetically myself.”

Vaughan posted his feelings on a tweet sharing the People article, and both men posted identical images of the proposal with similar captions to Instagram as well:

The couple is sporting matching engagement rings made with Kay Jewelers’ customization program. One side of the ring has diamonds, while the other looks like a traditional wedding band. While they are engaged, the diamonds face out. Once they say “I do,” the rings will be flipped, so that the diamonds face inward.

“My reasoning for that is like I told Jonathan: ‘The diamonds face us then because my world is exponentially more beautiful now that you are in it forever,'” Vaughan told the magazine.
