Jordin Sparks and husband, Dana Isaiah, welcome their first child

Singer Jordin Sparks and her husband, Dana Isaiah, have welcomed their first child together. Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr. was born on May 2 at 9:04 p.m. at the Natural Birth Center & Women’s Wellness in Los Angeles.

The baby boy weighed in at 8 pounds, 4.5 ounces and measured 21.5 inches. Sparks says they couldn’t be happier to be new parents to their son.

“It was miraculously beautiful,” Sparks told People of her childbirth experience. “Dana caught him with my midwife, Simona, and when he handed him to me, I was absolutely overwhelmed with joy. He was and is everything we imagined.”

Sparks shared this sweet snap of her bundle of joy, whom they plan to call DJ, on Instagram:

“He’s here & we couldn’t be more in love!!! Go DJ!,” she captioned the photo of her baby sporting a beanie cap emblazoned with his nickname.

On May 5, Sparks attended the “Snow Dogs” premiere, and the new mom gushed about how motherhood has already changed her for the better.

“It’s different. Oddly enough he made me sing better,” she told ET Online. “I was able to hit notes that I didn’t think that I could. I wasn’t expecting at all. [But] the love is different than anything that I have [ever felt]. I don’t even know how to explain it. I can’t. It’s unreal and I know that I have way more inspiration. I was inspired by Dana last year and now we have our family and I’m inspired by that.”
