The Hamptons have long been known for out-of-this-world houses owned by the rich and famous. Just look at these aerial photos and you’ll get the idea. Now, the most expensive home there is up for sale — and it’s truly unlike any other.
Listed for $175 million by Bespoke Real Estate, the lavish mansion was built and owned by Henry Ford III (also known as Sonny Ford), grandson of the famous automaker.
Located in the town of Southampton, the 42-acre oceanfront estate called Jule Pond offers nearly a quarter-mile of ocean frontage, the largest in the Hamptons.
The current owner of Jule Pond is Brenda Earl, a former partner at equity fund Zweig-Dimenna, according to Maison Global. She bought the property in 2002 for a cool $22 million.
It was completely renovated in 2008, though many original features still remain. Molded ceilings with traditional chandeliers, Italian marble fireplaces, French parquet floors and antique bathroom fixtures are all still in the home.
With 20,000 square feet of living space, the home has a whopping 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The entrance appears more modest than the rest of the house, but that was done on purpose so the rest of the house looks more dramatic.
There is even a chef’s kitchen, a library and staff/guest rooms with a separate entrance. Very “Downton Abbey,” with a modern twist!
The main living spaces include a 48-foot-long living room, a family room, a game room, recreation rooms and two master suites.
Outside the main house, the property also includes a separate carriage house that has three bedrooms, one-and-one-half bathrooms and a detached six-car garage.
Not that the inside isn’t amazing, but the outside of the house truly shines. Those Atlantic Ocean views are beyond words, but there is also a large pool, separate spa, outdoor kitchen and a shower.
Like all fantastic houses, there is of course also a tennis court and a basketball court. Jule Pond also has beautiful landscaping with multiple gardens, including a kitchen garden and meditation garden with a koi pond and waterfall.
If all that isn’t enough, your $157 million will put you in the same Hamptons vicinity as Beyonce and Jay-Z and a plethora of other celebrities.
