On May 18, a school shooting occurred at Santa Fe High School in Texas when a 17-year-old student used two guns owned by his father to open fire in two classrooms. Ten people were killed, including students and adults, and 13 were injured in the shooting. Sarah Salazar, 16, was among those injured that day, despite hiding in a closet in the classroom during the shooting.
On May 25, Salazar received a visit in her hospital room from a very special guest. Pop star Justin Timberlake, who is currently on his “Man of the Woods” tour, stopped by to give his young fan a reason to smile.
Salazar’s mom Sonia Lopez-Puentes shared this sweet photo of the singer at her daughter’s bedside:
“Justin Timberlake visited Sarah Salazar this morning and brought her a gift,” she wrote.
Salazar sustained serious injuries in the shooting from her neck down to her thighs; she will require multiple surgeries. A GoFundMe page has been set up by her aunt to help raise $60,000 pay for her medical costs.
In addition to visiting Salazar, Timberlake also honored those affected by the tragedy at his concert in Houston on May 23, dedicating his song “Until the End of Time” to the victims. He also wore a “Santa Fe Strong” t-shirt for part of the show.
