Kate Middleton Made A Hugely Powerful Statement About Her Kids’ Mental Health

The Duchess of Cambridge, better known as Princess Kate Middleton, is standing up for mental health awareness. Whose mental health? Her children’s—and all children’s mental health, for that matter. In an Instagram post, she said she and Prince William “wouldn’t hesitate” if their children needed help with their mental health.

This comes on the heels of a new podcast series the Princess is launching with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. The podcast, called “Child in Mind” aims to help parents understand and manage mental health. Each segment will be 20 minutes long, and will cover a specific topic and feature an expert as well as a parent or a young person.

“One in three adults still say they would be embarrassed to seek help for their child’s mental health,” Kate was quoted as saying. “No parent would fail to call the doctor if their child developed a fever, yet some children are tackling tough times without the support that can help them because the adults in their life are scared to ask.”

This is not Kate’s first foray into the world of mental health awareness. Earlier this year, she and Prince William together with Prince Harry formed Heads Together, a charitable organization to support mental health and help eliminate the stigma associated with it.

The first episode of “Child Mind” is now available on the Anna Freud National Centre’s iTunes channel as well as SoundCloud and focuses on childhood anxiety.

We plan to tune in!
