Kenny G now has his own board game at Target called ‘Keepin’ It Saxy’

The creative minds behind the Bob Ross: Art of Chill board game that hit Target shelves in 2017 have done it again — but this time, instead of painting happy little trees, things are getting a whole lot saxier.

Big G Creative’s new Kenny G Keepin’ It Saxy board game is based on the daily trials in the life of world-renowned saxophone superstar Kenny G. Two to five players ages 12 and up must work together and, of course, use the power of smooth jazz to keep Kenny G “in the groove.”

And just how exactly will you keep him grooving? During each round, players collect, trade and match sound cards and move a Kenny G game piece through his day from morning to evening. You work as a team to overcome a series of setbacks faced by the jazz artist, like a lost wallet, a broken part on his saxophone, a traffic jam, running out of hair product and even mismatched socks.

As you work together to complete events, you must also maintain your stash of Groove Tokens. If you finish the last round and still have at least one token on the board, you win.

If you really want to get in the jazz spirit, you can scat out riffs on the cards — like “Biddle Scoodily Bop!” — when you make a move.

Keepin’ It Saxy contains one Kenny G mover, a game board, 16 groove tokens, 62 sax cards, 36 event cards, three dice, one first player marker and instructions. It takes around 30 minutes to complete and is available now at Target stores nationwide and Target.com for $19.99.

The jazz saxophonist says he never imagined that following a day in his life would be turned into a game.

“Keepin’ it Saxy is a great combination of what I celebrate in life: Music, laughter, and spending time with friends and family,” he said.
