Kirk Douglas, 101, Dotes On His 8-Month-Old Great-Granddaughter In An Adorable Photo

Tinseltown royalty Kirk Douglas made the internet sigh a collective awww when his grandson Cameron Douglas posted a picture of Douglas spending quality time with his precious great-granddaughter, Lua Izzy. (Cameron is Michael Douglas’ son, and an actor as well.)

The 101-year-old patriarch of the iconic Hollywood family was captured in a loving gaze with the latest addition to his family tree, 8-month-old Lua Izzy — who was actually named after her great-grandpa:

Douglas used to go by the nickname Izzy in his younger days. His birth name was Issur Danielovitch, but he changed it to Kirk Douglas after being advised to do so by a fellow actor.

For the Douglases, family comes before fame. The clan is tight-knit, even in the face of numerous painful struggles, such as Cameron’s seven-year prison sentence for drug possession, and Michael’s cancer battle (he is now in remission), as well as his brief split with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is Cameron’s step-mother.

Through it all, the family has only become closer.

“My marriage and my family come before my career now,” Michael told Closer Weekly. “Do you know what absolute happiness is? For me, it is to wake up my kids in the morning — these little pieces of innocence — and find they’re so happy to see me. It is unequivocal love.”

Recently, Michael and Catherine Zeta-Jones gave their youngest son, Dylan, a wistful goodbye as he left for college. (They also have a daughter, Carys.)
