If you’d love a tropical beach getaway but can’t actually, you know, get away, Krispy Kreme’s new Island Time Collection will transport you to your own personal island with its tropics-inspired doughnuts: Piña Colada, Island Time and Key Lime Pie.
The Piña Colada Doughnut is an original glazed doughnut dipped in piña colada-flavored icing and topped with piña colada-flavored Kreme, coconut shreds and a candied cherry. The Key Lime Pie Doughnut is filled with Key Lime Kreme, then dipped in icing and topped with graham crumbs and a Kreme dollop.
Lastly, the Island Time Doughnut is a Kreme-filled doughnut that’s decorated with a beach scene. The doughnut is dipped in light blue icing to represent the ocean and graham crumbs are sprinkled on top to resemble sand. It is even topped with a palm tree and clouds for an extra island-inspired touch.
Krispy Kreme is also bringing back its Key Lime Glazed Doughnut and Key Lime Filled Doughnut. While both doughnuts are covered in a citrusy Key lime glaze, the filled doughnut also has Key lime Kreme piped inside it.
The doughnuts will be available on Key Lime Fridays on May 21 and 28, and reward members can nab a Key lime dozen for $5 with the purchase of any other dozen.
There are plenty of other Key lime pie-inspired treats in stores this summer as well, including Key Lime pie Hostess cupcakes, Key Lime pie ice cream at Target and Key Lime pie Kit Kats.
If piña colada flavors are your favorite, you can order a Piña Colada Frappuccino from Starbucks, grab a Piña Colada Fanta or make a cocktail with Baileys Colada, a blend of Irish Cream, coconut and pineapple. Smooth, creamy and ready to serve straight from the fridge, it is available nationwide and has an alcohol by volume of 17%.
Which new island-inspired treat will you be trying first?
