Krispy Kreme Is Now Making A Cream-Filled Original Glazed Doughnut
Just when you thought the classic Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut could not get any more tempting, there is something new on the horizon. To honor the 50th anniversary of NASA’s moon landing, which happened on July 20, 1969, Krispy Kreme has added cream to the center of its original glazed doughnut.
Talk about living up to your company name!
You can get your choice of a Chocolate Creme (chocolate cream-filled) or a Classic Creme (vanilla cream-filled) glazed doughnut at Krispy Kreme locations around the country. Both treats look over-the-moon marvelous and will be a permanent fixture on store shelves.
It turns out that Krispy Kreme has a unique connection to the moon landing that you may not have heard about before. After all, history books have tended to focus on the actual Apollo 11 moon landing, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and the scientists and math whizzes at NASA who made it happen. But take a look at this humorous @krispykreme post on Instagram:

It turns out that Krispy Kreme doughnuts were a breakfast food on that fateful morning.
“Krispy Kreme was at the launch of Apollo 11, serving fresh doughnuts to Americans witnessing liftoff of this monumental mission, said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation.
Skena continued, “As America prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we want to give our fans a new taste experience that is out of this world. ”
We love the homage to Neil Armstrong’s classic quote in their advertising: “One small bite for man … one giant leap for doughnut-kind.”
But the new doughnut flavors are not all.
As an extra celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, select Krispy Kreme stores around the U.S. will give away free original filled doughnuts on June 22 (the Classic Creme).
This offer is limited to one free original filled doughnut per guest and not valid with any other offer or coupon. Here’s the deal, as advertised on @krispykreme’s Instagram account.

To get the free doughnut, you do have to visit a participating store; the deal is not available online or at grocery/convenience stores.
Of course, the offer is only good while supplies last. So, you will want to visit a participating shop early!
This isn’t the first time the doughnut chain has marked a space-themed event with a special product.
During the solar eclipse in the summer of 2017, Krispy Kreme launched its “eclipse doughnut” by adding a dark chocolate coating on top of its classic glazed doughnut.
Will you be enjoying a free Krispy Kreme doughnut in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing?
