Kylie Jenner lands on the cover of Forbes as one of America’s richest self-made women

Forbes magazine just released their issue featuring the richest self-made women in America — you won’t believe who’s on the cover. It turns out that, in the past few years, the 20-year-old Kylie Jenner has been amassing a $900 million fortune that has her set to become America’s youngest self-made billionaire — among both men and women.

The youngest daughter of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, and sister to such high-profile siblings as supermodel Kendall Jenner and model Kim Kardashian West, Jenner has made some amazing strides in the business realm. In November 2015, she debuted Kylie Lip Kits, which initially focused on lip kits (lipstick sets) but has since branched out. The company, whose name she changed Kylie Cosmetics, went on to earn more than $630 million in revenue in just a couple years. That pot of money, plus her endorsements for companies like Puma and PacSun, have helped to rocket Jenner’s wealth to just shy of $1 billion.

Success seems to have come swiftly for Jenner. Though she landed at number 27 on Forbes’ list (with elder sister Kim at number 54), this is the first time she’s been included on the list since it was first published in 2014. Talk about coming in with a bang!

To what does the youngest “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” sister credit this success? She shared with Forbes that she leverages her social media following in order to promote her makeup brand, frequently posting updates to both Instagram and Snapchat, uploading selfies that show her in her own cosmetics and sharing the shades in the captions.

“Social media is an amazing platform,” she told  Forbes. “I have such easy access to my fans and my customers.”

Why makeup? As a young girl, cosmetics were a sort of armor for her. “Ever since I was in sixth grade, I would wear purple eye shadow,” she said. “I turned to makeup to help me feel more confident.”
