Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon share matching tattoo with their kids

Families typically love having little traditions together and finding fun things to show their bond. Maybe it’s a yearly road trip or wearing matching outfits for the family holiday card. Well, actress Kyra Sedgwick recently shared a story about her celebrity family that takes family bonding to a permanent level: getting matching tattoos!

According to the story Sedgwick shared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” the family tattoo started out as a classic mom joke when they were on their way to get dinner. She and her husband, actor Kevin Bacon, along with their adult children, Travis and Sosie, were on their way to dinner one night a couple of years ago when Sedgwick cracked a joke:

“Oh, let’s all get really drunk and go get tattoos,” she said, recounting the story to Corden with a chuckle. “I mean, it was a total bad joke!”

“Best mom ever!” chimed in actress Lena Waithe, who was sitting next to Sedgwick on the guest couch.

After a few laughs and reassurances that she was only joking at the time, “The Closer” star said Bacon immediately jumped on the idea and started sketching out some possible tatts. The design ended up being a combination of all of their initials.

What a creative way to show some family unity! You can see the tattoo on Sedgwick’s side in this appearance on the red carpet at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

And the family tattoo isn’t the only ink the 52-year-old star shows off from time to time. She reportedly has a larger tattoo on the lower part of her back, as well as a small piece of art on her ankle that looks like a sun or a flower.

The latter design looked particularly fabulous when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009.

The identical tattoos is just another sweet moment in Sedgwick and Bacon’s ongoing Hollywood love story.
