Lady Gaga’s dress stole the show on the Golden Globes red carpet

Lady Gaga may not have won Best Actress at the 2019 Golden Globes, but she certainly took the best-dressed award on the red carpet.

The “A Star Is Born” headliner stunned in a lavender-blue custom Valentino Couture gown with voluminous sleeves and a long train.

She paired the dress with coordinating tinted blue hair and $5 million in Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

As many people pointed out, Gaga’s look seemed to pay homage to Judy Garland, who originated the title role in 1954’s “A Star Is Born.”

Lady Gaga must be a fan of Valentino, as she also wore a stunning pink feathered dress by the designer to the Venice Film Festival premiere of “A Star Is Born.”

While Lady Gaga didn’t win a Best Actress Golden Globe, she did win one for Best Original Song along with her co-writers. She thanked them — along with her co-star/director Bradley Cooper — in an Instagram post. “I am so grateful to Bradley for this opportunity, and for singing this beautiful song with me,” she said.

Glenn Close beat out Lady Gaga for the Best Actress award for her role as a woman whose career took a backseat to her husband in “The Wife.” In her acceptance speech, Close had a message for other women.

“I’m thinking of my mom who really sublimated herself to my father her whole life and in her 80s she said to me, ‘I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything,'” she said. “We have to find personal fulfillment. We have to follow our dreams. We have to say, ‘I can do that and I should be allowed to do that.'”

Other Starring Moments Of The Night

Other highlights of the Jan. 6 awards show included Carol Burnett as the first recipient of her namesake Golden Globe award for achievement in television.

“I’m just happy our show happened when it did and I can look back and say once more, I’m so glad we had this time together,” she said while accepting the award.

Golden Globes co-host Sandra Oh made triple history at this year’s awards. She was the first Asian-American to host the awards show. She was also the first Asian-American woman to win multiple Golden Globes, and the first Asian-American woman to win a Best Actress Golden Globe since 1980.

Oh singled out her parents in her speech, saying, “There are two people here tonight that I’m so grateful are here with me.” She told them in Korean that she loved them.

Michael Douglas won a Best Actor award for his role in “The Kominsky Method.” Backstage after accepting his award, he praised his 102-year-old father Kirk Douglas for teaching him “stamina and tenacity” and talked about his love for his wife of 18 years, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
