Lay’s has 3 new chip flavors perfect for summer

Just in time for BBQ season, Frito-Lay is launching three new limited-edition Lay’s potato chip flavors that all sound perfect for hot summer days, whether you’re taking them to a pool party to share or keeping them all to yourself.

These feisty flavors are all clearly inspired by tropical islands and backyard barbeques. A Frito-Lay representative tells Simplemost the new Chile Mango, Wavy Jerk Chicken and Summer BLT flavors are available at retailers nationwide for $3.79 until supplies run out.

Wavy Jerk Chicken is spicy, sweet and smoky. Chile Mango has the fruity flavor of mango (yes, fruit flavor on a vegetable chip!), plus the spice and tang of chile peppers.

Inspired by the summertime picnic classic, Summer BLT offers flavors of lettuce and tomato wrapped in bacon. Serve the chips alongside an actual BLT and you’re in for a whole lot of bacony goodness.

The summer fun doesn’t stop there for Frito-Lay, however. The brand’s “Let’s Summer” campaign is asking fans to visit their website for the chance to win summer-themed prizes like a home theater projector, outdoor pop-up cinema screen, telescope and more. You don’t need to purchase anything, but the site will ask you for a UPC code from a qualifying product, or a code you can request for free gameplay.

In addition to the prizes, the site also has inspiration for how to make your summer even more fun, with tips for movie nights, outdoor fun and more.

These aren’t the only new Lay’s flavors hitting store shelves soon. You’ll also find Lay’s Kettle Cooked Extra, which has more flavor and crunch than traditional kettle-cooked chips. They come in two flavors: Honey Habanero and Extreme Cheddar.

While the new summer flavors are certainly unique, they are also not the first surprising potato chip flavors from the brand. Previously, they’ve had everything from Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup to Fried Pickles with Ranch and even Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese.

Most recently, we saw Crispy Taco, Fried Green Tomato and Hot Sauce in early 2020, followed by a Flavor Icons line that replicated the flavors of popular American restaurant dishes, like New York Style Pizza, Philly Cheesesteak and Nashville Hot Chicken.
