This Architect Turned His Basement Into An Amazing ‘LEGO Lounge’

He has almost 250,000 LEGO pieces!

Are you a Lego-lover? If so, you have to check out this awesome basement remodel from architect Jeffrey Pelletier. Pelletier is a self-confessed LEGO fanatic. He has almost a quarter of a million LEGO pieces, which he keeps carefully organized in storage containers.

As you can imagine, finding space for all of those LEGO pieces can be difficult. So when Pelletier and his husband moved into their new home in Seattle, they decided to do something out of the ordinary. They turned the dark, unlivable basement into a LEGO haven, the likes of which would make little girls and boys everywhere green with envy.

Since they couldn’t build up, they dug down, creating 9-foot ceilings in the basement. Check out this video for more details on this cool basement remodel.

If you are inspired by Pelletier’s LEGO lounge, but don’t quite have the space to dedicate your entire basement to LEGO storage, do not despair. There are many clever ways to keep the colorful little pieces organized.

A 39-compartment storage shelf like this one from Home Depot will make keeping small pieces organized a cinch, and it comes in at under $16. (A small price to pay for never having to step on a LEGO with your bare feet again!)

An ingenious idea like this LEGO pick-up-and-play mat means that clean up is seriously a cinch. All you have to is draw the strings of the bag to quickly pick up the mat and all the LEGO pieces will stay nice and snug inside until the next play session. This option comes in at under $11 on Amazon.

And, with the holidays coming up and so many LEGO gifts bound to be under the tree, now is definitely the time to think about organizing. Just look at this latest LEGO offering: A complete Disney castle, with over 4,000 pieces! You need serious storage for this stuff. No wonder Pelletier had to devote a whole floor to his massive collection.
