Lego is making pop culture art kits for adults

In recent years, coloring books and jigsaw puzzles have emerged as great activities to relax and express creativity — for adults, mind you. Now, Legos are the latest childhood activity to get a reboot for grown-ups. Lego has launched four new impressive kits aimed at adults that celebrate famous works of art and icons of pop culture.

Available at stores beginning Aug. 1, there are four sets that come with a signature tile design, a hanging element and a soundtrack that gives you insider details on the subject of your set. They’re priced at $119.99 each.

Each set can be configured in multiple ways and then hung on your wall for a great conversation starter.

“Discover the pleasure of a different Lego building experience!” the brand says in the product description. “Celebrate some of the world’s most iconic artists, bands and characters with these unique Lego Art Mosaic sets. Create wall art to display, with three or four building options in each set so you can choose your favorite. While building, immerse yourself in the Audio Building podcast, with stories closely linked to the piece.”

Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe set allows you to recreate the pop artist’s famous painting of the screen star. Like all the new kits, it has about 3,000 pieces, and the product description promises it’s as robust as it is beautiful. You’ll have four different ways to build the project, depending on which color scheme you like most.

It’s expected to be available for purchase on Sept. 1.

If you want to go really crazy, you can buy three of the Iron Man sets and combine them into one sizable piece of wall art that shows the hero shooting a blast from his signature repulsor. You’d probably be one of the few to have this hand-built piece on your wall!

The Beatles set allows you to create one of four portraits of each of the members of Fab Four: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

For sci-fi lovers, The Sith set celebrates three villainous Sith Lords from the Star Wars saga: Darth Maul, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader.

Sounds like a perfect project while you’re sitting at home!
