‘The Lion King’ Returns To Theaters This Weekend
We repeat: "The Lion King" is back in theaters.
Still no plans for this weekend? No problem. Movie theater chain AMC has announced that they will be showing Disney’s “The Lion King” in theaters beginning August 4.
That’s right. The original “The Lion King” movie. Back in theaters!
From a quick search of our local theaters, it looks like the film will be showing through Wednesday, August 9. So, Disney fans, you have less than a week to take in this visual feast. In other words, don’t sit on this one.
The news comes on the heels of another big announcement from AMC. Beginning September 15, the chain will be running “Dream Big, Princess,” a marathon of Disney princess classics.
Each week through October 13 you can catch your favorite Disney princesses on the big screen. Six films are part of the series: “Beauty and the Beast,” “Mulan,” “Tangled,” “Moana,” “The Princess and The Frog” and “Brave.”
While both “The Lion King” and the “Dream Big, Princess” marathon are being shown at AMC theaters across the country, if you’re lucky enough to live in the Los Angeles area, you’re in for an extra-special treat.
The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood will include a sing-along as part of their screenings of “The Lion King.”
“Disney created an instant classic with the original release of ‘The Lion King’ in 1994 and its popularity has never wavered. We are thrilled to offer a whole new way to enjoy this beloved Disney film at The El Capitan Theatre. Who can resist singing along to such unforgettable songs as ‘Hakuna Matata,’ ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ and ‘Circle of Life’? ‘THE LION KING SING-ALONG’ will also include a special live appearance by Timon on The El Capitan Theatre stage before every show. There is simply no better way to experience the laughter, music and majesty of this Disney masterpiece,” El Capitan Theatre General Manager Ed Collins said in a statement.
We couldn’t agree more, sir. We could not agree more.
