Cornhole, sometimes called bag toss, has been a favorite pastime of tailgaters, barbecuers and others in parts of the Midwest — though its origins are disputed (different sources credit people from 14th century Germany, citizens of Cincinnati, Native Americans in Illinois and a pioneer in Kentucky for cornhole’s invention). Although it has long been a favorite regional lawn game, people all across the U.S. have come to enjoy cornhole.

Now, you can play this fun game while splashing in the refreshing pool. A company by the name of Airhead has created an inflatable game called Lob the Blob that is essentially a floating version of cornhole. (It’s currently sold out on Airhead.com and at Amazon, but it is available on Walmart.com.)

Cornhole For The Pool Or Poolside

The set features two targets constructed from heavy-gauge PVC that inflates (and deflates) quickly and easily. Grommets on the corners of the goals let you anchor the targets in the water or tether them to the ground. Each target has a 37-inch-by-26-inch playing surface and a 10-inch hole.

The game also includes four green “blobs” and four blue ones. The weighted blobs allow for accurate tossing, but they also float, so there’s no need to dive into the lake or pool to recover them.

As you can see from this post on the Airhead Water Sports Instagram profile, you don’t need deep water to stay cool and have fun.

“What’s better than corn hole?” they wrote. “Corn hole in the water!”

The Reviews Are In

Lob the Blob currently has a 3.9-star rating out of 5, and customers are sharing their fun experiences giving the game a go.

One reviewer who goes by Happy Pappy reports that the set is perfect for kids.

“I am very happy that I made this purchase,” he shared. “My 4-year-old grandson had a ball playing this (he was good at it too) as well as the adults. It’s sturdy and the ‘bean bags’ float so they are easy to retrieve if you miss the target. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to those who want to have fun in the pool for pretty much all ages.”

A customer named Lauren thinks the game makes a great gift.

“I bought this as a gift for a friend after playing it at another friend’s house,” she commented. “It is good quality material and the bean bags are filled with a type of beads that still allow them to float without needing to blow them up. Better than other similar products and comes with 2 ‘boards’ rather than just one so you don’t have to move it around the pool.”

If you’re looking for other types of inflatables for the pool, we’ve got you covered! From floats shaped like llamas to an 18-foot-long airplane float that fits six adults, you’re going to have fun in the water this year.
