Take a peek inside a princess-themed home in Disney World’s gated community
Disney fans dream of living inside Walt Disney World Resort so they never have to leave the park experience behind. But some lucky folks do just that.
Residents of Disney’s Golden Oak gated community live in luxury homes on the theme park’s property just down the road from Disney World. The eight neighborhoods in the 980-acre district allow residents to live in houses inspired by traditional European and Caribbean styles and Old Florida architecture, and enjoy the perks of resort living.
Each home was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, which incorporated high-quality, custom touches throughout each one, including hidden Mickey Mouse shapes.
@thetravelingred Replying to @sisobell there’s over 50 hidden Mickey’s in the house. How many did you spot in this video? #hiddenmickey #hiddenmickeys #mickey #mickeymouse #disney #disneyhouse #disneyhome #disneyhomedecor #goldenoak #disneyworld #homedecor
After the last Golden Oak neighborhood — the Cottages at Symphony Grove — opened in 2020, Miami blogger Cristie Anne Cabrera and her family snagged one with a French provincial design inspired by “Beauty and the Beast.”

Cabrera is a blogger and social media influencer under The Traveling Red moniker and has shared drool-worthy glimpses on TikTok into her family’s vacation home, dubbed Belle’s Cottage.

It was Cabrera’s parents who first spotted the home and convinced her and her brother to go in on it with them, she wrote in an October 2022 CNBC article.
The family certainly makes use of the four-bedroom, 3,600-square-foot property. Cabrera says she, her husband and their 5-year-old daughter come up from Miami about twice a month. It helps that both parents work remotely.

The main floor is French cottage themed and came with all the furniture when Cabrera’s family purchased it (plus custom bronze “Beauty and the Beast” character statues).

Belle’s cottage also comes with a third-floor “reading room,” which Cabrera’s family uses as a playroom for its three little girls.
@thetravelingred Replying to @sarahsmile5877 but we have 3 little girls in the family so it’s their playroom instead. 🤷🏼♀️ #readingroom #library #bellesreadingroom #beautyandthebeast #goldenoak #goldenoakproperties #belleshouse #bellescottage #disneyhouse #disneyhome #disneyhomedecor #interiordesign #playroom #girlsplayroom #potterybarnkids @Pottery Barn Kids
An intricate spiral staircase that leads up to the reading/playroom has “Beauty and the Beast” characters in the banister design.
@thetravelingred My favorite part of our house in Disney’s Golden Oak is this custom railing up to the third floor reading room (which is now the girls playroom). It’s full of characters. #disney #disneyhouse #disneyhome #disneyhomedecor #beautyandthebeast #goldenoak #belle #customrailing #railing #DoritosDareToBeBurned

The home’s pool and jacuzzi are surrounded by the home to offer complete privacy and the outdoor space includes a covered patio with fireplace, grill area and lounge.
@thetravelingred This is the entire outdoor space of our house in Disney’s Golden Oak. We don’t have any grass, but we have a park right next to our house so that is where we play outside. #goldenoak #disney #disneyhouse #disneyhome #disneyhomedecor #goldenoakproperties #disneygoldenoak #artchitecture #homedesign
The home also comes with a Disney-princess-themed guest house; the master princess suite has a kitchenette and lovely little details throughout.

If you want to live in Golden Oak, it’ll cost you somewhere between $2 to $12 million. The only homes currently for sale on its official website are a $6 million Tuscan villa and $9.5 million Old Florida-style mansion. Homes in Cabrera’s neighborhood in the Cottages at Symphony Grove sold for $3.69 million and $2.67 million in 2020. A home in the more contemporary Symphony Grove neighborhood is on the market now for $7.8 million.
Living in Golden Oak also means residents must purchase a pricey annual club membership, which includes access to a number of community parks, a lavish clubhouse and pool, free shuttles to the park, concierge services and other exclusive events and activities.
For West Coast Disney fanatics with deep pockets, Disney is also constructing a residential community in Rancho Mirage, California. Called Cotino, the “Storyliving by Disney” neighborhood is about two hours from Disneyland and will have a resort-like body of water with clubhouse activities and Disney cast members. Sales of the homes are expected to begin in 2023 and the community hopes to welcome its first residents in 2024.
