Be on the lookout this summer for 2 new Oscar Mayer ‘Wienermobiles’

Kraft Heinz Company

Folks, it’s officially summertime, which means that the usual Oscar Mayer Wienermobile fleet is already out in full force—but as of today, two new kinds of Oscar Mayer Weinermobiles will be joining the dynamic team. Oscar Mayer announced the addition of the brand new WienerCycle and WienerDrone as a way to celebrate the company’s latest change to their hot dog recipe.

The existing fleet, of course, includes the original Wienermobile, the WienerMini and the WienerRover. The current Wienermobile is based on the very first iteration of the vehicle, a 1936 creation designed by Oscar Mayer’s nephew, while the WienerMini is a built from a 2008 MiniCooper. The WienerRover—the smallest of the bunch—is the fleet’s remote-controlled, off-roading vehicle that can hold and warm up to eight hot dogs.

But the newest additions to the fleet are where things get interesting. The WienerCycle brings some three-wheeled moped power to the fleet, and it comes equipped with a little wiener sidecar. The WienerDrone, on the other hand, will be hopping onto the futuristic-delivery bandwagon, letting Oscar Mayer rain hot dogs down from the sky. (Okay, it won’t actually do that, since that would be incredibly dangerous and fairly unhygienic—but it will let Oscar Mayer deliver one ready-to-eat hot dog unmanned to remote locations.)

The Wienermobile fleet has already been on the move, as evidenced by Oscar Mayer’s Instagram posts of the vehicles’ adventures:

As the fleet rolls around the country, company reps will be handing out hot dogs made with Oscar Mayer’s updated recipe, which no longer includes added nitrates, byproducts or artificial preservatives.

“We’re going where other hot dogs can’t. We’re committed to getting our new hot dog in everyone’s hands—and going to great lengths to do this. We knew that was a job for more than just our existing Wienermobile,” Greg Guidotti, head of marketing at Oscar Mayer, said in a press release. “So, we’ve expanded our Oscar Mayer fleet, ensuring every American can taste the new recipe because we believe everyone deserves a better hot dog.”

The entire Oscar Mayer fleet will be headed to Weiner, Arkansas, next, where staff will spend the Fourth of July giving out hot dogs. If you’d like to see any of the hot dog vehicles in your town, reach out to Oscar Meyer on Twitter using the hashtags #ForTheLoveOfHotDogs and #Contest. Who knows? This might be the summer a drone drops a ready-to-eat hot dog on your doorstep.
