Macaulay Culkin shared a photo of himself wearing a ‘Home Alone’ face mask and it’s hilarious
The beloved film “Home Alone” was released 30 years ago and the iconic image of a 10-year-old Macaulay Culkin clasping his face in shock is still as famous as it was decades ago. Now in 2020 amid a pandemic, the 40-year-old actor is one of many celebs and public figures taking to social media to remind people of the importance of wearing a mask.
As cities slowly reopen there’s been a surge of people in public spaces that’s led to spikes in COVID-19 cases. A recent University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation estimate found that 33,000 U.S. lives could be saved over the next three months if people wear their masks. Culkin took to Instagram and Twitter to encourage people to protect themselves and others by posting a photo wearing a mask with the famous image of his face from the film.

Since your eyes immediately went to the mask you may have missed the LEGO Empire State Building in the background, another ode to the film. It may have been his actress girlfriend Brenda Song’s idea per her comment on his Instagram post: “Whoever thought to put the LEGO Empire State Building in the back is a genius! Lol. Hehehe.”
He’s no stranger to viral posts related to the family Christmas film after recently posting a photo of what “Home Alone” would look like today. The photo featured the disheveled actor sitting on his couch looking at his laptop while eating.
