Madonna’s childhood home is for sale
If you’re a fan of pop superstar Madonna, now’s your chance to snag a piece of her history. The singer’s Rochester Hills, Michigan, childhood home recently hit the market, and is listed for just under $500,000.
Built in 1969, the two-story, 2,700-square-foot colonial has five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a total of 14 rooms, according to the real estate listing.
The home boasts vaulted ceilings, custom cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors throughout, a screened-in porch and a covered patio. Here’s a shot of the interior living space.
While it’s unclear how long Madonna lived there while growing up with her seven siblings, her parents owned the property until 2001.
The current owners bought the house in 2012 for $91,000 and remodeled it after a fire attributed to arson damaged the home in 2008.

No Idea An Icon Lived There
The current owners, Erika and Daniel Juhl, say they had no idea it was Madonna’s former home when they bought it.
“1.22 acres in the heart of Rochester Hills was very appealing to me, and I love to garden, and so the damage on the house didn’t deter us,” Erika Juhl told the Detroit News. “It was more the land we were interested in.”
Just because the Juhls didn’t realize the home once belonged to the megastar, plenty of people do. The Juhls say their home receives daily visitors hoping to get a glimpse of Madonna’s past.
Madonna Not In A Rush To Move Back
The home may not hold many warm memories for Madonna herself, however, who famously bashed her hometown in an interview with Howard Stern back in 2015.

When the shock jock asked her if she ever considered moving back to Michigan while struggling to make it during her early days in New York City, the outspoken pop star replied, “Have you ever been to Rochester Hills, Michigan? I just didn’t want to go back. I can’t be around basic, provincial-thinking people.”
Today, the mega-star is no longer struggling to make it—her net worth was estimated to be $800 million in 2014—but she has not shut herself off from the reality of those who are. Madonna adopted twin 4-year-old sisters from Malawi in early 2017 and footed the bill for the country’s first-ever pediatric surgery center.
