How To Make Bacon In The Microwave – No Clean-Up Required

Bacon is as messy to make as it is delicious to eat.

If you haven’t yet made the jump from cooking bacon on the stove or in the oven to the microwave—a whole new splatter-free world awaits you!

There are a bunch of microwave-safe bacon trays out there that help to cook bacon quickly and wick away grease at the same time, like the one below.

If you don’t have a tray–or simply are looking for a way to cook bacon without having anything at all to clean afterwards–this YouTube video will show you how it’s done.

All you need is:

  • 1/2 pound of bacon
  • paper towels
  • paper plates

Rolling the bacon slices into heart shapes helps keep the grease contained, and using the paper towels on top of the paper plate helps absorb it. Place the bacon in the microwave, set it for five minutes, flip the bacon (or the whole plate) over, then put it back in for another minute or so and voila! Crispy bacon with no clean-up required.

As TipHero points out, you can replicate this bacon-making approach with any microwave-safe plate if you don’t have paper plates on hand or want to reduce waste.
