These adorable hot cocoa marshmallow cookie cups are fun to make with kids

Kitchen Fun With My Three Sons

Hot chocolate fans, it’s time to cozy up to a cute cookie you can make with your kids this holiday season.

These Hot Cocoa Marshmallow Cookie Cups from Kitchen Fun with My 3 Sons blogger and kids’ cookbook author Jill Mills are both adorable to look at and tasty to eat.

The no-bake recipe includes full-sized marshmallows, mini marshmallow bits, holiday sprinkles, Maravillas cookies and candy canes. Icing holds it all together. (If you can’t find the specific Maravillas cookies called for in this recipe, it looks like any sort of small round cookie would make a great base.)

Mills got this kid-friendly idea for the treat from her friend Norene Cox, who wrote the book Sweet Treats for the Holidays: Edible Creations for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and More.

If you’re looking for other hot cocoa marshmallow inspired cookie recipes, Butter With a Side of Bread swaps the marshmallow for a cup-shaped cookie to make Christmas Hot Chocolate Cookie Cups festooned with red and green sprinkles. The cookie is also filled with fudge instead of topped with icing.

Want an easier substitute? Use premade cookie dough instead of making the cookie cup from scratch, as suggested by TipBuzz.

Jill of Kitchen Fun with My 3 Sons also has a Christmas Hot Cocoa Cookie recipe that puts the marshmallow on top of a chocolate cookie and has a chocolate icing and Christmas sprinkles on top of that.

Cooking Classy incorporates peppermint into her striking Peppermint Hot Chocolate Cookies with crushed peppermint candies on top. Blog author Jaclyn Bell compares them to Mississippi mud cake in cookie form. Yum!

While these recipes aren’t as easy for kids, they all look like some part could be done with your children helping.

But if you’re looking for another child-targeted dessert, Woman’s Day has a straightforward-looking No-Bake Hot Cocoa Cake that layers chocolate wafers topped with a hot cocoa cream until they form one larger cake. Just make sure to refrigerate this one for a while before eating.

Meanwhile, you’re definitely going to need to have some quality hot chocolate on hand to go with any of these, so you might want to grab some Stephen’s Gourmet Candycane Cocoa.
