How to make reversible scarecrow and snowman decoration for your front porch

Wooden pallet signs have been a popular trend for years now, and for good reason: They’re inexpensive to make, require little woodworking expertise, and they can be made out of recycled wooden boards for an eco-friendly craft.

And with this reversible wooden pallet holiday sign, your home decor will always be on point. Forget lugging your holiday trimmings from the garage or attic. With this clever design, all you have to is flip your handmade sign, and voila, you’re headed straight from Halloween and Thanksgiving into Christmas.

One side features a sweet, smiling scarecrow, while the other side has a cheery snowman that is perfect for Christmas and the winter season.

To make this craft you will need six pine boards, superglue, hammer, nails, dark and light wood stain, craft paint (in white, orange and black), a bandana and a flannel scarf, as well as a few other items. Check out the written directions here on HGTV’s website.

You can find several other cute tutorials on YouTube to help you customize your wooden sign to meet your tastes and your budget. This tutorial from Lovin’ Life’s Journey uses items from Dollar Tree to make a budget-conscious seasonal scarecrow-to-snowman sign:

Want something a bit more spooky than a scarecrow? (Though, arguably, scarecrows can be pretty spooky even if you’re not a bird!) This reversible wooden pallet tutorial has a zombie on one side, and a snowman on the other. DIY-eyrs Kim and Garett Make It show how it’s done:

Not into crafting? You can find wooden pallets on Etsy that are reversible and fit for the entire holiday season.
