Marc Jacobs didn’t settle for an ordinary proposal. He wanted to make the moment he popped the question to be unforgettable. Which is why he did it at Chipotle… OK, stick with us here.
While he and boyfriend Charly Defrancesco were eating at the popular chain, the fashion designer surprised Defrancesco with a flash mob before dropping to a knee and asking the big question.
I bet Defrancesco didn’t see that coming at the end of a casual night out!
If you think this sounds like an elaborate/incredible proposal scheme, it most certainly was, and there’s video to prove it!
As you can see in the video that Jacobs posted to Instagram this week, the flash mob danced inside the restaurant to Prince’s “Kiss,” and when the song was over, Jacobs dropped to one knee.
Defrancesco, who was obviously surprised by the whole thing, said “Yes.”
How could you not want to marry the person that set up a flash mob at Chipotle for you, after all?
“THANK YOU everyone for making this happen,” Jacobs wrote on Instagram.
He ended the post with a special message to his new fiance: “And to my Ride or Die fiancé @chardefrancesco I LOVE YOU.”
It’s not clear exactly when the two started dating, though they reportedly started hanging out publicly in late 2015.
How sweet! People online are loving the idea of a Chipotle proposal—because, Chipotle:

Some even called it “proposal goals.”
Proposal goals.

Surprises In Their Relationship
Jacobs is, apparently, a big fan of surprising people – including in his fashion designs.
“One thing that is exciting about fashion is the surprise element. People don’t know what they want. They just know when they see it,” he said, according to his website.
Defrancesco is a former model who now has his own line of candles.
The reason why Jacobs surprised Defrancesco at Chipotle is actually pretty cute. Every year for Defrancesco’s birthday, the couple goes to Chipotle — it’s a tradition.
So, when it was time to celebrate Defrancesco’s birthday (which is on April 4), they went to get some delicious Mexican food.
“I wanted to take him out for a romantic dinner on his birthday and he was like, ‘No, I want to go to Chipotle,’” Jacobs told Women’s Wear Daily. “So I knew I had to [propose] somewhere where he wouldn’t suspect that I was going to do that. And then I organized a flash mob to be there, but he didn’t know anything about that. So I was successful about that.”
Hilariously enough, Defrancesco surprised Jacobs just a few days later with a huge surprise party for Jacobs’ birthday, which is on April 9.
Clearly, these two are so in love! Any couple that surprises each other left and right has got to be doing something right, in our books.
Here’s to many more nights eating burrito bowls on the couch for these soon-to-be husbands!
