Mark Zuckerberg And Wife Priscilla Chan Welcome Their Second Daughter
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have welcomed their second daughter into the world! The proud father of two took to none other than Facebook to share the news of the birth of his daughter, August.
Apparently, Zuckerberg was hoping for a girl, a fact he announced months ago when they told the online community that they were expecting their second child. For him, there’s nothing better than having strong women in your life (amen!), so he’s honored to get the chance to raise not one, but two.
“When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy. My next hope was that it would be a girl. I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I’m so happy Max and our new child will have each other,” he wrote on Facebook.
He continued, “We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives — sisters, mothers and friends. We can’t wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman.”
August joins 18-month-old Maxima Zuckerberg, and the parents are extremely excited to watch as the sisters grow up together.
In an excerpt from a letter the parents penned to their newborn, Zuckerberg and his wife shared these hopes for their daughters.
He writes:
“I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you’ve tamed every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want,” he wrote. “And I hope even in your dreams you can feel how much we love you.”
Awww! It just doesn’t get much cuter than that!
Like many new parents, raising children has affected the young Facebook CEO greatly. “Having kids does change how you think about the world in a pretty dramatic way,” Zuckerberg told students at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University back in March. And he means that in every way—even from a business standpoint.
He explained, “I used to have meetings that ran really late,” Mark Zuckerberg said. “But now, I make sure that three times a week, I’m home to give [Maxima] a bath.”
Because at the end of the day, the most important thing is family. “The thing that I’m most proud of, and the thing that brings me the most happiness, is my family,” he told the students.
Now, his family has grown a little bigger, so there’s even more to love! Congrats to the family of four!
