Maroon 5 And Jimmy Fallon Gave NYC Subway Commuters The Best Surprise

Jimmy Fallon is no stranger to bringing laughs and smiles to “The Tonight Show,” especially with his many skits involving some of our favorite musicians. Remember the time that he, The Roots and Adele performed “Hello” with classroom instruments? Or when he got Kelly Clarkson to sing “Since U Been Gone” backwards?

Now, Maroon 5 is getting in on the fun, taking their talents to New York City subway commuters while dressed in disguise—fooling everyone into thinking they were regular old subway buskers!

Fallon, along with the band’s frontman Adam Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine, donned wigs and beards. They began their set with “A Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen and Levine, who has a pretty recognizable voice, disguised that a bit so they weren’t outed too quickly.

Regardless, it didn’t take long for the commuters to stop and listen to the music, forming a crowd around the impromptu performance. Following the first song, it was time to reveal their true identity.

“We’re gonna do one more song for you guys, but first I’d just like to say ‘Hello, my name is Jimmy Fallon and this is Maroon 5!'” Fallon said as he and Levin peeled off the fake beards and wigs to cheers from the stunned crowd.

Of course, the audience now grew bigger with people running across the platform to see the performance for themselves, which ended with Maroon 5’s 2014 hit “Sugar.”

Check it out:

Maroon 5’s “Sugar” seems like the perfect song for this impromptu performance. After all, the official music video for the song featured the group crashing weddings and singing their hit song.

Who wouldn’t love their wedding band to be Maroon 5, even if it’s only for a quick song? Those weddings will never be forgotten by those shocked newlyweds and their guests!

This isn’t the first time Fallon hit the subway to bring a free concert to unsuspecting commuters. He and Miley Cyrus surprised everyone with an undercover performance earlier this year. They sang “Jolene” by Dolly Parton and Cyrus’ hit “Party in the U.S.A.”

As for Maroon 5, they released their sixth studio album, “Red Pill Blues,” earlier this month and you can also catch Levine on NBC’s “The Voice.” Levine is also expecting a second child with wife Behati Prinsloo and the couple just revealed they’re having another girl!

With 1-year-old daughter, Dusty Rose, at home, Levine is sure keeping busy.

But based on a recent interview with Ellen Degeneres on her show, it sounds like Levine absolutely loves the craziness that comes with a full life.

“We’re kind of like maniacs,” he joked with DeGeneres during the interview. “I thrive in chaos. I really, genuinely enjoy it.”

As for the latest edition to the Levine family, word is still out on whether or not DeGeneres will help name the new baby. It seems that she had a hand in naming adorable Dusty Rose!

Fallon has also had a busy few months. He recently released his second children’s book “Everything is Mama.”  As part of his book release, he sponsored the “Say Mama Video Contest.” Thousands of videos were submitted to Fallon in the hopes of winning a free trip to New York City to the book’s big launch party.

Kate Swenson and her six-year-old son Cooper won the heart of Fallon with their special video. You see, Cooper is autistic and his mom has been working with him on developing his language skills.

After the high of launching his new book, unfortunately Fallon faced a personal tragedy when his beloved mother, Gloria, died at the age of 68. But, 11 days later, he returned to “The Tonight Show” to honor the woman whom he said was always inspired him.

“She was the best audience,” Fallon said. “She was the one I was always trying to make laugh. And she was such a fan of the show and everything I did.”
