Why watch Spongebob Squarepants when you can meet him?
In 2018, nostalgic adults and cartoon-loving kids will be able to come together in the continent’s largest indoor theme park, which also happens to be Nickelodeon-themed.
The 8.5-acre Nickelodeon Universe theme park will feature rides based on the aforementioned Spongebob as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other beloved Nickelodeon characters. Anyone always wanted to face Angelica the Rugrat in person? While it’s not yet clear if The Rugrats will make the cut for inclusion in the theme park, here’s hoping.
New Jersey’s Nickelodeon Universe will be part of the 3 million-square-foot American Dream complex that’s being built. The complex, developed by Triple Five Group, the same group that owns the massive Mall of America in Minnesota, will feature 450 stores, a 16-story Big Indoor Ski & Snow Park, a 1,500 seat theater, an aquarium, an ice rink and a miniature golf course. The only thing missing will be enough time to get through all the attractions in one visit or even a long weekend!
Triple Five Group and Nickelodeon teamed up to create the complex, which is currently being built and seems tailored to have something to please each family member regardless of age. The company originally planned to be finished in 2017, but the park will now be open in 2018 after resolving some financial setbacks.
If you just can’t wait to get your Nickelodeon theme park fix, there’s an existing 7-acre Nickelodeon Universe within the Mall of America that features 27 rides.
Nick fans, get this on your travel bucket list for 2018!
