McDonald’s Is Giving Away Free Big Macs To Celebrate The Burger’s 50th Anniversary
Who doesn't love free food? But first you need to collect a MacCoin!
McDonald’s lovers are in for a big treat! The Big Mac is turning 50 and to celebrate, Mickey D’s is giving away its iconic burger for free in honor of the milestone anniversary.
So, how do you snag yourself a free Big Mac? With a MacCoin! McDonald’s announced via Twitter that it’s creating a new global food currency with five collectible designs that you can redeem for a free Big Mac in 50 different countries. Big Mac fans can collect their coins starting Thursday, Aug. 2.
We're celebrating 50 years of Big Mac by creating a global currency—MacCoin—each one worth a free Big Mac around the 🌎, with 5 collectible designs for 5 legendary decades. Starting August 2, collect your own MacCoins when you buy a Big Mac while supplies last. #BigMac50 pic.twitter.com/xn8Z9GNLSp

To snag yourself a MacCoin, visit any one of the 14,000 participating locations across the country on Thursday and purchase a Big Mac. There’s a limited supply of MacCoins, so make sure you hit up a Mickey D’s bright and early Thursday.
Of course, McDonald’s is no stranger to flashy promotions. Earlier this year, everyone’s favorite fast-food chain launched a Twitter contest to gift one lucky fan with a diamond-encrusted, 18-karat gold “Bling Mac” ring — dreamed up by fine jewelry designer Nadine Ghosn — that was worth a whopping $12,500.
The love for the Big Mac burgers is palpable. The depth. The realness. The…ridiculousness. Tweet your most devoted vows of Big Mac burger love to @McDonalds with #BlingMacContest to compete to win the gratuitously blingtastic Bling Mac! pic.twitter.com/CIOdQ9LhWD

It’s no surprise, then, that Mickey D’s would celebrate the Big Mac’s 50th anniversary with five collectible MacCoins showcasing iconic art from each decade.
Each MacCoin is worth one free Big Mac. You can redeem yours for a free Big Mac starting Friday, Aug. 3, through the end of the year.
