The fast-food wars are heating up by getting extra cool! First, Chick-fil-A recently launched its Frosted Caramel Coffee drink/dessert mixup. Well, it looks like McDonald’s isn’t just going to stand by quietly without its own sweet strategic countermove.

Tests are apparently being conducted in select restaurants for a brand new Snickerdoodle McFlurry! And, with seasonal fall flavors like pumpkin spice already hitting restaurants around the country, the timing seems perfect for this potential menu item.

The discovery of the special McFlurry flavor happened accidentally during a late-night McDonald’s run by Pasadena, California-based YouTuber Ian K, who produces “Peep THIS Out!” In his review, he talked about how he simply dropped by to pick up his usual iced coffee when a larger-than-life poster caught his eye.

He teased the review on the @peepthisout Twitter page:

Like other McFlurries on the McDonald’s menu, the Snickerdoodle version blends vanilla soft serve and cookies into one irresistible treat. But then Snickerdoodle McFlurry appears to take McDonald’s sugar cookies and a healthy dash of cinnamon to create the popular cookie flavor we know and love.

Ian K’s review points out that cinnamon lovers should really get a kick out of the new Snickerdoodle McFlurry. There is no skimping on this spice and it holds up against the sweet and creamy vanilla soft serve.

Plus, you can see from the video how the cookies also are a standout in the frozen dessert.

Sugar cookie chunks are spread thickly through the mix, leaving a satisfying flavor and texture; this McFlurry seems like a perfectly blended dessert.

“It’s a really nice even mix and the overall flavor delivers,” Ian K said in the video. “This really tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie just with a lot of frosty goodness — especially late at night, guys. This is just a fun time to have this right now.”

Right now, the Snickerdoodle McFlurry only seems to be available in select stores. McDonald’s has not said if the testing markets will expand nationwide or if the Snickerdoodle McFlurry will be released in the near future.

But, with the holiday season coming up, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will make its way to more stores around the country soon!

Here’s the “Peep THIS Out!” segment showcasing the Snickerdoodle McFlurry:

Do you love the flavor of snickerdoodle cookies? If so, you can definitely make some snickerdoodle-flavored treats in your own kitchen.

For example, check out this recipe for a snickerdoodle mug cake. It comes from the Five Heart Home blog, and is perfect for a warmer take on the cinnamon-infused dessert!

You can also try your hand at making snickerdoodle bread! This recipe, from blog Averie Cooks, is kept soft and moist by the addition of sour cream, but packs plenty of cinnamon flavor.

We’ll definitely be watching our local McDonald’s for signs that the Snickerdoodle McFlurry has arrived. How about you?
