McDonald’s Is Unveiling A New Flavor Of Chicken Nuggets

They're also releasing their first new dipping sauce since 2017!

If you love the yummy comfort of a small, paperboard box filled with McNuggets (and your dipping sauce of choice, of course) — but you are craving something with a little more kick, you’re in luck. McDonald’s has announced that it will be introducing Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce just in time for fall’s cooler temps.

The bold twist on classic McNuggets will still have the crispy tempura coating you’re familiar with, only the batter will also contain cayenne and chili peppers. This makes for a flavorful nugget that bites you back a bit. But if they’re still not as spicy as you’d like, you can dunk the nuggets in the new Mighty Hot Sauce, made with red peppers and chilis.

The company took to Twitter with a tantalizing series of images. Each tweet is a grouping of flame emojis made into one of the four McNugget shapes, as shown.

They wrapped up the series of tweets with a message.

“Spicy Chicken McNuggets,” the tweet stated. “Get ready. Everywhere 9.16.”

Not only is the Mighty Hot Sauce McDonald’s first new dipping sauce since 2017, but this is the first new take on the McNugget since it became a menu item back in 1983.

“As our customers have been asking for Spicy McNuggets for some time now, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring them to our menus,” McDonald’s Vice President of Menu Innovation, Linda VanGosen said in a statement. “We can’t wait for McNuggets fans to get a taste of these new spicy options.”

If all that spice leaves you craving a cooldown, they’ve got you covered there as well: a Chips Ahoy! McFlurry will also be making the lineup. The treat will be a blend of vanilla soft serve, caramel topping and Chips Ahoy! cookie pieces.

Spicy McNuggets, Mighty Hot Sauce and Chips Ahoy! McFlurry will be on the menu starting September 16 at participating restaurants nationwide. But get them while they’re hot, as they’ll only be available for a limited time.
