McDonald’s Is Testing Fresh Beef Burger Patties

McDonald’s is going to try serving fresh (never frozen) beef patties. Nation’s Restaurant News reports that the test will happen at 14 restaurants in Dallas and will be limited to burgers that are made with quarter-pound patties.

So this will include the following: Bacon Clubhouse Burger, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the Homestyle Burger.

McDonald’s spokesperson, Linda McComb told NRN, “Like all of our tests, this one too is designed to see what works and what doesn’t within our restaurants by considering the operational experience, customer response, price points and other important information, which may inform future decisions.”

This test and shift to fresh beef are ways McDonald’s is looking to help revive sales, food quality and overall customer satisfaction. McDonald’s CFO, Kevin Ozan stated that when the company switched to using real butter on the Egg McMuffin, sales rose 28 percent.

They also tested garlic fries in San Francisco (with locally grown garlic) and all-you-can-eat fries in Missouri. The garlic fries were a huge hit, by the way, already selling out.

With over 14,000 locations in the U.S., if McDonald’s decides to switch up their beef, a major change in logistics of the shipping and storage of patties will happen.
