McDonald’s is testing bacon and cheese fries

McDonald’s fries are a big part of the reason why most of us head to the Golden Arches. And now, the fast-food giant is making their signature menu item even more delicious… by adding cheese and bacon!

Yup. McDonald’s is bringing Loaded Bacon & Cheese Basket of Fries to certain United States locations, and if that isn’t a cause for celebration, I don’t know what is!

The fries are topped with cheddar cheese and applewood smoked bacon, and a basket will cost you $3.99. There is one issue, however: Only select locations of McDonald’s will get this menu item. These lucky ducks include McDonald’s in the aforementioned greater Pittsburgh area, central West Virginia, southeastern Ohio, and eastern Kentucky.

But don’t despair, presumably if the new menu item is a success in these locations, it could become a national offering.

This is not the first time that McDonald’s has launched topped french fries, but it is the first time they have come to the States. For example, you can get Italian-style topped french fries in China, where the taters are served with a tomato basil and garlic pepper sauce. Or at Australian McDonald’s locations, you can get Truffle Mayo & Parmesan Loaded Fries. Um, no fair!?

At least McDonald’s is now giving Americans some loving with this Loaded Bacon and Cheese option. Something tells me it’s going to be a hit!

It seems unlikely that the Minion-themed menu will make it to the U.S., so for now we’ll have to console ourselves with French fries covered in cheese and bacon. Sigh.
