Meghan Markle shares the same birthday as this member of the royal family

There’s a lot to keep up with as a member of the British royal family. They are constantly attending events, making appearances, visiting with the public — and, we would imagine, remembering lots of people’s names and job titles. Fortunately, despite her being the latest addition to their family, it shouldn’t be difficult for the royals to remember Meghan Markle’s birthday.

Why, you ask? Because Markle shares her birthday with the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. (Yes, her name was also Elizabeth — the British royals like to repeat names!) Both women were born on August 4 — only 81 years apart.

The Queen Mother was called the Queen consort until 1952, when her husband, King George VI, passed away. At that time, her eldest daughter, Elizabeth II, became queen of the United Kingdom. The Queen consort became known as the Queen Mother to the public in order to differentiate between mother and daughter. She was born on August 4, 1900, and lived to be 101 years old.

Meanwhile, Markle was born in 1981 in Los Angeles and was 21 years old when the Queen Mother passed away. At that time, Markle had no ties to the royal family — and now she is the Duchess of Sussex. Funny how things change!

The Newlyweds

Prince Harry and his new bride’s birthdays are just over one month apart, as he celebrates his on September 15. So, the late summer months will prove to be a time of celebration for the royal family.

Given that Prince Harry and Markle were just married, however, it means that this summer will hold many firsts for them and offer plenty of reasons to commemorate special events. In fact, their first public appearance as husband and wife was to attend Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebration.

What The Future Holds For The Newlyweds

Now that the wedding is over, everyone is wondering when the official royal baby watch can begin.

The couple was already being questioned about children during their first interview after announcing their engagement. An interviewer for the BBC asked the couple if they had plans for a family in mind.

“Not currently, no,” Prince Harry joked. “Of course, one step at a time and hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.”

The newlyweds still plan to go on their honeymoon, so perhaps we will be hearing a pregnancy announcement sooner than we think. (Wink, wink!)

Now that they’ve officially started their life together, it will be exciting to see what’s in store for the two of them — whatever it may be.
