Meghan Markle makes headlines after attending her first official evening affair
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been out and about a lot lately, charming fans everywhere they go. Now Markle is once again in the spotlight thanks to the graceful way she handled a snafu at an awards ceremony.
On Feb. 1, Markle took the stage to present an award at the Endeavor Fund Awards, an event that honors wounded, sick and injured service members who have taken part in remarkable sporting and event challenges over the last year. The Endeavor Fund is part of the The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry and provides seed funding for sporting and adventures challenges, and assists emerging initiatives with advice, hands-on support and mentoring.
When there was a mix-up at the podium with her co-presenter’s notes, Markle laughed it off and helped him find his place. She made sure that the show went on and she never lost her cool. Check out the incident in the video below, posted by BBC News:

Markle also caught attention for her outfit that evening. The royal-to-be wore cropped, black cigarette trousers paired with a tuxedo shirt by designer Alexander McQueen. The slim-fitting suit was worn with a cream blouse and stiletto heels.

Markle is known for being stylish. Just look at the couple’s beautiful engagement photos:
However, Markle’s bold look at the Endeavor Fund Awardswas seen as an unconventional look for a formal event, as a dress would have been considered a more traditional choice. The chic ensemble drew praise from some, like Ashley Spencer, editor of Australian entertainment site The Fix, who said she loved the outfit:

Not everyone was thrilled with the unique fashion choice, however. Rebecca English, the royal correspondent for the Daily Mail, took to Twitter to say she was disappointed that Markle wasn’t wearing a dress:

This is not the first time that Markle has drawn attention for her style—which is unsurprising, as she has already made her mark as a fashionista. Until last year, she ran a fashion, food and travel blog called The Tig. She’s even tried her hand at fashion design, creating a capsule collection for Canadian retailer Reitmans.

And it’s not just her clothing choices that have fans rushing to mimic Markle. People have also become obsessed with the princess-to-be’s full eyebrows. She gets her now-famous brows shaped at London’s Nails & Brows salon. Her treatment of choice is called “The Audrey,” named for iconic actress Audrey Hepburn, who was also known for her thick brows.
Even if some people disagree with Markle’s choice to wear pants to a formal event, we predict a surge in sales of tailored cigarette pants, as women everywhere try to copy the newest royal’s style. Speaking of which, if you love Markle’s fashion choices, check out Meghan’s Mirror, a blog that chronicles her looks. It even includes links to purchases Markle’s most memorable pieces, like this wool off-the-shoulder jacket, which she wore to a January visit to Cardiff Castle:
Markle certainly has a unique style, and we can’t wait to see what she does (and wears!) next!
