The Duchess of Sussex is due to have her first baby in the spring. It’s one more bright spot in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new life together. We should know, as we’ve been watching their every royal move — and they haven’t disappointed us yet. We can’t wait to meet their new baby, as parenthood will certainly add a whole new dash of adventure to their life.

Invictus Games

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada. This marked their first appearance together at an official public event. Photographers caught the couple looking especially cozy and chatting with their neighbors while watching tennis.

Princely Proposal

On Nov. 27, 2017, Clarence House announced that Prince Harry and Markle would wed in the spring of 2018. The newly engaged couple posed for photos and answered questions in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. Prince Harry remained elusive about his proposal, saying only “of course it was” romantic.


Fairytale Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding made history and captivated millions of viewers from around the world. She was the first divorced, biracial, American actress to join the British royal family. She was a natural, with gorgeous wedding day looks and many stunning photographs.

Reception Dress

Markle took a page from Kate Middleton‘s playbook and changed into a second gown for her wedding reception. Markle stunned in a Stella McCartney gown, and Harry looked dapper in his tux. They couple drove to their reception in a blue Jaguar, which matched the blue aquamarine ring Markle wore (it had belonged to Princess Diana’s).

London Reception

Markle wore a sunny yellow Brandon Maxwell sleeveless midi dress during the “Your Commonwealth” Youth Challenge reception in London on July 5. Though not shown below, some photographers snapped shots of Markle clasping her hands together in front of her stomach, body language that could have bee a clue that she was in the earliest days of her pregnancy.

Trip To Ireland

Markle and Prince Harry spent a whirlwind two days touring Ireland. They hit the ground running when they landed in Dublin. She wore a structured green dress when they stepped off the plane.


Wimbledon Whites

On July 14, Markle and Kate Middleton attended Wimbledon together. The royal ladies were there to cheer on Markle’s friend Serena Williams. She wore a blue and white striped Ralph Lauren shirt and wide-leg, silk Ralph Lauren pants.

Sentebale Polo

On July 26, Prince Harry and Markle attended the sweltering Sentebale Polo Cup. They dined with polo champ Nacho Figueras and his wife, Delfina Blaquier. Markle wore a navy Carolina Herrera belted dress with a loose-fitting skirt. It’s possible she was expecting already, but the flowy look concealed any brewing bump.


Wedding Guests

On her birthday, Aug. 4, Markle attended the wedding of Daisy Jenks and Charlie van Straubenzee. The beautiful wedding venue was a centuries-old Saint Mary the Virgin Church in the village of Frensham in Surrey, England. Markle wore a belted dress from Club Monaco with a full skirt.

University of Catania and Cairo University

Night At The Theater

On Aug. 29, Prince Harry and Markle attended “Hamilton” in London. It was a charity performance to raise funds for children affected by HIV in southern Africa. The Duke and Duchess had VIP access and went backstage to meet the cast.

WellChild Awards

On Sept. 4, Markle attended the WellChild Awards in London with Harry by her side. This awards event recognizes the achievements of seriously ill children and youth. The newlyweds — and parents-to-be — were naturals interacting with the children.

University of Catania and Cairo University

100 Days Of Peace

On Sept. 6, Harry and Markle attended the “100 Days of Peace” concert in a ruffled, vibrant blue dress. The event commemorated the centenary of the end of World War I and benefited mental health initiatives, including Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and Heads Together. Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton started Heads Together, so it’s natural for Markle to join in, too.

Cookbook Launch

On Sept. 20, Markle hosted a cookbook launch as her first royal project and made her first royal speech. The cookbook includes recipes from women affected by the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in London. The Duchess cooked with the women and helped co-author the cookbook.

Coach Core Awards

On Sept. 24, Harry and Markle attended the Coach Core Awards at Loughborough University. The program encourages young people to become involved in athletic coaching, and this event honored 60 graduating Coach Core apprentices. Markle wore a navy peplum top that camouflaged any growing bump.

Oceania Opening

On Sept. 25, Markle attended the opening of “Oceania” at the Royal Academy of Arts in London as her first solo royal event. The exhibition celebrates art from the Pacific region. Her belted dark-colored dress helped to hide her growing bump.

Joff Youth Centre

On Oct. 3, Prince Harry and Markle visited the Joff Youth Centre and spoke about mental health. Markle wore a structured, high-waisted Hugo Boss leather skirt for the occasion. Markle also greeted local school children in Brighton.

Family Wedding

On Oct. 12, Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie of York married Jack Brooksbank. The Duchess wore a loose-fitting navy dress and matching coat to the star-studded royal affair. The baby bump rumors ran wild, and it wasn’t too long before the royal family confirmed she was expecting.

Parents To Be

On Oct. 15, the British Royal Family confirmed baby rumors and officially announced Markle’s pregnancy. The announcement came right before she and Harry headed off on their tour of Australia. No longer would she have to disguise her growing belly, opening up the possibilities for a whole new maternity wardrobe.

Sydney Surprises

After the announcement, Markle’s style shifted for the tour Down Under. She wore a white fitted dress designed by Karen Gee that showed a hint of a bump. Australia’s Governor-General, Peter Cosgrove, and his wife, Lynne, surprised the royals with baby gifts, a tiny pair of UGG boots and a stuffed kangaroo toy.

Farm Fresh Visit

On Oct. 17, Prince Harry and Markle visited a local farm in Dubbo, Australia. Markle brought the Woodley family, who owned the farm, a loaf of banana bread she’d baked the night before. She looked classic and classy in a white button-down shirt.

Pavilion Dining

On Oct. 21, Harry and Markle attended a reception at the Pavilion Restaurant in Sydney with the Prime Minister of Australia. In addition to mingling with dignitaries, they took time out to talk with children, too. She wore a black turtleneck and white pin-striped blazer, which covered up any glimpse of a growing bump.

Long Walks On The Beach

On Oct. 22, the Duke and Duchess visited Fraser Island. The pair took a stroll along the Kingfisher Bay Jetty in casual attire. Markle affectionately cupped her growing belly.

Fiji State Dinner

On Oct. 23, Prince Harry and Markle attended a state dinner in Fiji with Fiji’s president Jioji Konrote. This was one of the first formal events where Markle’s bump was on display. Her baby blue dress showed it off perfectly.

Tropical Morning Tea

On Oct. 24, Markle attended a morning tea reception at the British High Commissioner’s residence. She wore a bright, loose-fitting gown for the home visit. In fact, the Duchess helped in the kitchen to prepare the morning meal.

Tonga Arrival

Markle broke away from her neutral style trend in Tonga. She donned a bold red Self Portrait dress when she touched down. The bright, cheery color made her glow even more.

State Dinner

Markle and Prince Harry swapped their day ensembles for formal wear after arriving in Tonga. They attended an official state dinner. Markle wore a beautiful floor-length Theia gown that showed off her bump.

Queen’s Canopy Unveiling

During their second day in Tonga, Prince Harry and Markle visited Tupou College in Nuku’alofa for an unveiling of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy. Markle wore a blue Veronica Beard shirt dress, again with a belt, which is a look she seems to love.

Young Conservationist Award

On Oct. 26, Markle wore a head-turning Oscar de la Renta tulle gown to present the Young Conservationist of the Year Award in Australia. She glowed and looked every bit the princess next to her prince.

Local Traditions

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wore Korowai, traditional Maori cloaks, while visiting Te Papaiouru, Ohinemutu, in Rotorua. The locals performed a welcome ceremony, called a pōwhiri, for the guests. Then the royals attended a lunch in their honor.

Creative Arts

Harry and Meghan visited art students and creative professionals at Courtenay Creative in Wellington. The Duchess wore a blazer dress by Australian designer Maggie Marilyn. She also didn’t shy away from heels, wearing navy Manolo Blahnik pumps, not pictured.

Walk In The Park

On their last day in New Zealand, Harry and Meghan visited the Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua. The Duchess went for a comfortable and chic look. She paired black jeans by Mother Denim with a navy sweater and borrowed a Norrøna black puffer jacket from Prince Harry.

Armistice Day

On Nov. 11, Prince Harry and Markle — along with other members of the royal family — visited Westminster Abbey for a final Armistice Day service. The Duchess opted for an outfit of chic separates. Her navy skirt and peplum top made her large poppy pin stand out.

British Fashion Awards

Meghan made a surprise appearance in a one-shouldered gown at the British Fashion Awards, to everyone’s delight. She presented an award to Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller, who designed her wedding dress.

Floral Frock

Meghan donned a Brock Collection dress for a visit to Brinsworth House, the Royal Variety Charity’s residential nursing and care home. She stayed warm with a gray coat from Soia & Kyo and accessorized with a nude clutch and matching heels.

Christmas Services

On Christmas Day, Markle attended services in a head-to-toe navy look. She wore a dress and coat by Victoria Beckham and topped it off with coordinating accessories. Her feathered fascinator added the perfect finishing touch.

Animal Lover

The Duchess and her bump took their first official visit to Mayhew Animal Welfare Charity in January 2019. She took on a new role as Patron. The organization works to improve the lives of dogs, cats and the people in communities in London.

Big Top Bump

Prince Harry and Markle attended the Cirque du Soleil premiere of “TOTEM” at Royal Albert Hall on Jan. 16, 2019 in London, England. Markle proved maternity wear can really sparkle. She looked lovely in a floor-length sequin gown.


Theater Patronage

Queen Elizabeth II passed on two of her patronages to Markle in January. On Jan. 30, Markle made her first visit in a blush dress and coat combo as the new patron of the publicly funded National Theatre in London. The theater is home to three separate performing arts spaces. The organization was formed in 1963 with Laurence Olivier as its first artistic director.

Higher Ed

The second patronage the Queen passed on to Markle is the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which aims to help students from the UK’s commonwealth access higher education. Markle made her first visit as patron to the University Of London on January 31, 2019, in a chic black dress, matching coat and top knot.

A Day At The Theater

Prince Harry and Markle visited the historic Bristol Old Vic theater on Feb. 1 during a royal visit to Bristol. The Bristol Old Vic theater company is an offshoot of the Old Vic theater company in London, and the company’s home theater — the Theatre Royal — has been operating since the 1700s. The Duke and Duchess braved cold and snow flurries to take in the theater’s recent renovations. Markle wore green suede boots and carried a matching clutch.

Bristol Charity Visits

After their theater visit, the royal couple headed to Empire Fighting Chance, a charity that aims to help empower disadvantaged kids through boxing. Markle’s flowy Oscar de la Renta dress accommodated her growing bump and was adorned with woodland creatures, making it both elegant and whimsical. The couple also visited One25, which aims to help current and former sex workers rebuild their lives.


Baby Shower

Markle headed to New York City for a midweek baby shower in February that brought together her high-profile friends including Serena Williams, Gayle King and Amal Clooney.

Trip To Morocco

Shortly after returning to the U.K., Prince Harry and Markle jetted off to Morocco on an official state visit. They met with the country’s leaders, and Markle even had the chance to have some traditional henna applied during the trip.
