Meghan Markle’s Rescue Dog Is Getting His Own Book

Simon & Schuster

Meghan Markle isn’t the only Kensington Palace newcomer with a fairy tale story. Her rescue dog Guy, a beagle, has a wags-to-riches tale that quite possibly could rival that of the Duchess of Sussex.

Book publisher Simon & Schuster certainly thinks so, and it’s publishing a book all about Guy this fall. Co-authors Camille March and Mike Brumm, and illustrator EG Keller, bring Guy’s story to life in “His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle: The Rebarkable True Story of Meghan Markle’s Rescue Dog.”

Brumm is an Emmy Award-winning writer and producer of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” so laughing out loud is all but guaranteed. Colbert even offered a blurb for the book: “Sit…Stay…Enjoy! Good reader!”

The book is set for release in Nov. 20, 2018, but it’s already a number one pre-order in the humorous short reads category. Everyone is eager to read about the regal beagle!

Furry Fairy Tale

In the book and in real life, Guy’s journey began at a kill shelter in Kentucky in 2015. He was transported up to A Dog’s Dream Rescue in Toronto, Canada, where Markle filmed her TV show “Suits.” The actress met Guy after submitting an application and attending an adoption event. It was love at first walk, and Markle fell for Guy.

Before deleting her Instagram account, Markle often posted snuggly snaps with her four-legged pal (and her other rescue dog, Bogart, who now lives with friends). It looked like the feelings were mutual, and Guy was very happy in his forever home.

The heartwarming narrative follows Guy’s journey to London with his new owner after she fell in love with Prince Harry. The book included lessons of acceptance with plenty of humor as readers learn whether or not the little beagle has what it takes to join the Royal Family. Spoiler alert — he does!

Guy is not the first royal dog to get the literary treatment. Over the years, other four-legged royals have inspired many books. In fact, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s dog Lupo has his own series and a number of children’s books have ben written about the Queen’s corgis.

There’s also hope for more books to come. Guy gained a furry sibling this summer when the Prince Harry and Markle adopted a Labrador, so there are many more adventures waiting to be told.
