Michelle Branch just announced that she’s pregnant
Thirty-four-year-old singer-songwriter Michelle Branch has just revealed that she is pregnant with her second child. The platinum-selling musician (best known for her early 2000s hits “Everywhere,” “All You Wanted” and “Are You Happy Now”) says she’s due this coming summer…which is also when she was planning to wed her fiancé, Patrick Carney, the drummer for rock band The Black Keys.
According to a recent Instagram post, the wedding will be postponed to welcome their newest bundle of joy:
Carney and Branch have been together since 2015. They first met at a Grammys party, and then Branch hired the rocker to help her produce her most recent album, “Hopeless Romantic.” But it turns out that, although the pair only met a few years ago, Branch was on Carney’s radar way back when “Everywhere” was playing on everyone’s radios.
Back when they first announced their engagement, Branch told Billboard, “Pat has said ‘I remember seeing you on MTV in the early 2000s and thinking you were really cute.’ It’s like, why couldn’t we have just met each other in our 20s? We would have saved so much heartache! He said that we probably would have f—ed it up. And yeah, we probably would have.”
The singer certainly has experienced her fair share of heartache over the years, including a broken marriage to her former bass player, Teddy Landau (who is 19 years her senior).
Branch has a 12-year-old daughter (Owen Isabelle) from her marriage to Landau, whom she divorced in 2015. She and Landau share joint custody of Owen, who is the spitting image of her dark-haired mama:

In addition to her upcoming wedding and the baby on the way, Branch has had a busy several months. In 2017, she released her first studio album in 14 years. It’s being called her most honest and vulnerable work to date, and for good reason. The singer-songwriter delves into the pain caused by her broken marriage to Landau, as well as the excitement and joy that comes from falling in love again.
Branch credits the album to the support and creative talent of her boyfriend, co-producer and now daddy-to-be Carney, saying, “This record wouldn’t have seen the light of day had he not been involved…when we were making it, it felt like it was us against the world.”
Now the pair have an even bigger co-project on the way. Congratulations, you two!
