Good news, Pritchett-Dunphy fans! Beloved comedy series “Modern Family” will return for an 11th and final season. While the show ending may feel bittersweet, it was previously thought that the 10th season would be the final one for the show, so the fact that there’s another entire season to look forward to is exciting.

Show creator Steve Levitan previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the plan was to end “Modern Family” after 10 seasons. But when 20th Century Fox became part of Disney, ABC gained solo rights to the show for the first time, and it became financially feasible to keep the show going for one more season.

And according to ABC president Karey Burke, there’s a lot to look forward to in the final episodes. “In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss,” she reportedly said at a press conference.

“Modern Family” puts a comedic spin on the trials and tribulations that families face — especially blended families — and it often manages to do so in a heartwarming way, which is likely why it’s become so beloved by fans.

The show’s viewers took to Twitter to express their feelings surrounding the news. Some, such as Twitter user @lipahyland, were happy to find out that these folks would be appearing on TV screens for another season:

Twitter user @hiraumarafidi, on the other hand, would love to see 20 seasons of this show, as 11 seasons are simply not enough!

Twitter user @Mich_McCartney is “crying already” at the thought of saying goodbye to these characters:

The cast also took a moment to react to the news on social media. Of course, it’s bittersweet for them, too.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) wrote on Twitter, “Will be hard to say goodbye. Love my family.”

Rico Rodriguez (Manny) tweeted, “What an amazing ride this has been! Can’t wait to return for a final season with my @ModernFam.”

And Nolan Gould (Luke) shared the news of the final season in a video posted to Twitter, saying, “We’re super excited to come back and bring another season for you guys, hopefully wrap up some story lines, bring you guys the funnies and keep making you laugh.”

The “Modern Family” cast and crew has been making fans laugh since 2009, so there’s no doubt there will be plenty more sweet, hilarious moments to come in its final season. Can’t wait to tune in!
