Mom’s Honest Excuse For Daughter’s Tardiness Will Make You LOL

reddit/Colieoh

Okay, I love this mother. She is pretty much my hero. Why are we all not as honest as she is? It would be so much easier than pretending.

Reddit user Colieoh posted this picture of the school sign-in sheet. Apparently, a friend had brought her daughter in late to school, and, rather than coming up with a creative explanation, the mom decided just to put it all out there. “Bad parenting” was her sole explanation for the tardiness.

While we don’t know much more about the story behind the sign-in sheet, part of me hopes that this honest mom comes out and explains what happened that morning.

But then there is another part of me that is enjoying coming up with my own explanations. Had the mother gone to see “Bad Moms” the night before? Did the hilarious flick inspire her to shut off the alarm and stay up late drinking wine?

Or perhaps the woman was parroting the words of her cranky daughter who was forced to do some ludicrous task before heading to school — you know, something like finishing her homework or cleaning up her room.

Maybe the truth will be discovered and maybe it won’t, but whatever the explanation, I’m sure it would be an honest one.

Other Funny ‘Reasons’ For Being Late

Reddit users tuned into the forum took the opportunity to share their own stories of being late to school as kids — and how their parents dealt with the tardiness. Most also questioned why there even needs to be a “reason” given for a late arrival.

“If my dad dropped us off late to school he would write ‘My children are late because they are not on time,'” Reddit user cat-ninja shared, while another user shared a more serious story with a humorous finish.

“My son has type 1 diabetes,” ManDuh_B wrote. “A couple of days ago, his pump came off overnight, and he woke up with a very high bg and moderate ketones (for those who don’t know, this is a potentially serious medical emergency). We treated and had to wait 2 hours to retest and make sure the ketones were gone.

Bg came down and ketones went away almost entirely in that time, but he was still an hour and a half late to school. For the reason that day I wrote, ‘Diabetes sucks.'”

Dad Leaves Leaves Funny Post-it Notes About Parenting For His Wife To Find

Speaking of funny parents, after the birth of his first child in 2010, New Jersey dad Chris Illuminati decided to quit his full-time job as a newspaper editor in order to stay home and raise his son. His wife, Libby, whom he affectionately refers to as his “Permanent Roommate,” kept reminding him of all the daily tasks he needed to get done to take care of their newborn baby.

Having used a system of Post-It note reminders to stay organized at his newspaper editor job, Illuminati decided to implement the same system for his new life as a full-time parent. However, boring Post-It reminders to “change the baby’s diaper” and “feed him a bottle” soon turned into funny thoughts about his day that he’d leave around the house for his wife to find.

Once he started uploading images of his sticky notes to his blog, A Message With A Bottle, they quickly went viral, garnering media attention and tons of social media followers.
