This giant cocktail shaker is going on a cross-country road trip

What do you do when you come across a larger-than-life cocktail shaker? Stop for a drink, of course! The innovative team behind whisky brand Monkey Shoulder is about to embark on a cross-country journey in a truck large enough to transport the abovementioned larger-than-life cocktail shaker. Similar to a cement truck, the appropriately named Monkey Mixer vehicle has replaced what normally would be the spinning drum that keeps concrete from hardening with a bright and shiny silver cocktail shaker. The Monkey Mixer is kicking off its epic journey at Arizona Cocktail Weekend in Phoenix next Saturday, Feb. 17, before heading to select cocktail festivals and surprise locations through the U.S. If you’re wondering if you’ll actually be served a delicious cocktail straight from the enormous shaker, the answer is yes! According to a statement, Monkey Shoulder’s U.S. ambassador, Seb Derbomez, and brand associate, Tobias Schopf, will serve the Mixed Up Monkey cocktail from the machine’s chute.

The brand’s main goal? To “challenge perceptions about Scotch whisky and redefine expectations for cocktails.”

This isn’t the first time Monkey Shoulder has gone above and beyond to cause a stir (see what I did there?) in the world of interesting cocktail inventions. Last year, the brand reinvented the ice tong, dubbing the new invention, The Claw. The device is said to “provide more precision when it comes to adding ice to drinks through its hooking technique.” Another fun one? A limited edition 1930s Konga Shaker. Watch Instagram user @theglorifiedjanitor show off that shaker in action:

“Many consider whisky sacred and precious. Many take their cocktails very seriously. We respect that, but believe people should play with their whisky, and enjoy the experience,” said Derbomez in a statement. “Monkey Shoulder is an award-winning whisky that is made for mixing, and we are dedicated to sharing the joy and wonder of what a whisky cocktail experience can be with people across the country. The Monkey Mixer is a great vehicle to share this message in a big and unmistakable way.”

Fast facts about The Monkey Mixer? It can hold the equivalent of 123,000 bottles of Monkey Shoulder. That’s a whole lot of booze! Moreover, it’s around 27 feet long, 13 feet tall and 8 feet wide. And of course, you can’t have a party without music! The Monkey Mixer is equipped with a sound system that packs over 2,000 watts of power, complete with audio amplifiers and subwoofers.
