Since its inception in 1946, New York City’s Met Gala has been the most fashionable night of the year. From supermodels to artists to actors, the event—which raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute—is one of the most photographed of the year. Each year, the organizers choose a theme that the attendees must honor in their choice of dress, and for 2017, the theme was “avant-garde.”
And the attendees did not disappoint! Here are some of the most outrageous looks from the night.
1. Zendaya
The actress made a splash in a gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana gown with a parrot print, and she wore her hair with enough volume to match the skirt on her gown.
2. Rihanna
The singer turned heads in a Rei Kawakubo-designed Comme des Garçons dress. (Rei Kawakubo was the designer being honored at the event.)
3. Kendall Jenner
The model and reality TV star made global headlines in her La Perla gown, which came complete with 85,000 crystals… and a visible thong.
4. Bella Hadid
The model didn’t let her pal Kendall Jenner steal the spotlight. She also shocked onlookers with her revealing Alexander Wang body stocking.
5. Nicki Minaj
If you know anything about Minaj, you know the singer wouldn’t show up in a boring little black dress. She made waves in her H & M gown, complete with a belt featuring the face of Comme des Garçons’s designer Rei Kawakubo.
6. Celine Dion
The singer wowed with her stand-out headpiece.

8. Blake Lively

9. Priyanka Chopra
The “Second Most Beautiful Woman in the World” wore a Ralph Lauren trench coat, somehow making something as boring as a trench utterly sexy and gorgeous.
10. Claire Danes
The “Homeland” star wore a black-and-white ensemble by Monse.
11. Cara Delevingne
The actress and model wore a silver Chanel suit, complete with painting her recently shaved head silver.
