Since its inception in 1946, New York City’s Met Gala has been the most fashionable night of the year. From supermodels to artists to actors, the event—which raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute—is one of the most photographed of the year. Each year, the organizers choose a theme that the attendees must honor in their choice of dress, and for 2017, the theme was “avant-garde.”

And the attendees did not disappoint! Here are some of the most outrageous looks from the night.

1. Zendaya

The actress made a splash in a gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana gown with a parrot print, and she wore her hair with enough volume to match the skirt on her gown.
