Nate Berkus, famed interior designer and one of Oprah’s favorite experts, and his husband Jeremiah Brent are expecting another baby!
The lovebirds are ready to welcome a baby boy also via surrogate. They made the announcement on Instagram, fittingly on Valentine’s Day. The post featured a series of outtakes of their 2-year-old daughter Poppy announcing, “We’re having a baby brother,” and marching in with blue balloons. Berkus captioned his post writing “Well, the cat is out of the bag…and we couldn’t be happier @jeremiahbrent.”

On Brent’s Instagram account, he wrote “Here it is … Us at our best. We are humbled, ecstatic, thankful and so grateful to share that Poppy will be expecting a brother come spring. @NateBerkus and I are excited to be bringing you along on this journey. Our family is about to be that much more complete. Love is love.”

Berkus sadly lost his partner, fashion photographer Fernando Bengoechea in 2004’s devastating South Asian tsunami. But he was later able to find happiness with Brent, a fellow interior designer. In 2014, the lovebirds became the first same-sex couple to get married in the New York Public Library. In attendance were some of their celebrity friends like Oprah, Rachael Ray and Busy Phillips. The couple later welcomed Poppy, via surrogate, in 2015.
According to Us Weekly, Poppy loves both pink and plastic, both of which horrify her dads, so the couple can hope that baby number two will have slightly different tastes by the time he can speak.
Meanwhile, season two of the pair’s popular home decor show, “Nate & Jeremiah By Design,” returns to TLC on April 7. The series follows Berkus and Brent as they turn do-it-yourself home mishaps into dream homes, all while raising Poppy—and soon another little one!
Congratulations to the adorable family!
