Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup fans, you’re going to love the new flavor of Cheerios
Are you a fan of the match-made-in-heaven flavor combination that is chocolate and peanut butter? I mean, who isn’t?
It’s what makes Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups such a perfect treat. For those who can’t get enough of the sweet and nutty taste, Cheerios has announced the release of a new flavor, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios. The snack-sleuthing Instagram account @candyhunting released a photo of the new cereal along with a caption that reads, “New Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios will be out soon! You heard it here first!”

Admittedly, the exciting new flavor is not the first chocolate-and-peanut-butter-flavored cereal to hit grocery shelves. Reese’s released their own cereal based on their popular candy, Reese’s Puffs, back in 1994. Nor is it the only unique Cheerios flavor. The cereal also comes in Pumpkin Spice, Cinnamon Burst and Banana Nut, to name a few.
Still, the latest installment in Cheerios’ flavor lineup has fans pretty excited. On Sept. 19, Cheerios released their own photo of the new cereal on their official Instagram page:

The caption reads, “TA-DA! 🎉 Meet our delicious new Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios! Real Cocoa. Real Peanut Butter. Coming Real Soon.”
And people on Instagram went wild.
“Take my money @cheerios!! #excited,” read one comment.
“OMG!!!!!! YES!!!!! Please make peanut butter and jelly one too!! Please!” begged another.
Some people expressed concern over the fact that the new flavor may mean that regular Cheerios may be contaminated with peanuts since they are manufactured at the same place, and thus unsafe for people with peanut allergies. But the company reassured customers that’s not the case.
Others wondered if the cereal would come in a gluten-free version. The company says that since the product is not fully produced using a dedicated gluten-free process, they are unable to call the cereal gluten-free at this time.
So what do you think? Will you give the new flavor a try?
