You Can Buy A New Girl Scout Cookie Flavor This Year

Move over Thin Mints — there’s a new Girl Scout cookie in town, and I have a feeling you’re going to be ordering multiple boxes. The Girl Scouts gave us a sneak peek at their latest cookie back in August, but we are happy to report you can now officially buy caramel chocolate chip cookies!

Featuring caramel, semisweet chocolate chips and a bit of sea salt, the new cookies are chewy — and they’re gluten-free. If you already love that combination of caramel, chocolate and sea salt before, you can imagine just how good these cookies must be!

The caramel chocolate chip cookies are the second gluten-free cookie that will be offered by the Girl Scouts this cookie season, joining Toffee-tastic, which was introduced in 2015. The Toffe-tastic cookie is buttery, with sweet, crunchy, golden toffee bits. It will also be for sale this cookie season, but like other gluten-free products, both cookies may be priced higher than other Girl Scout cookies because of the cost of gluten-free production.

Caramel chocolate chip is the first new flavor since the 2017 cookie season, when the Girl Scouts introduced us to two different s’more flavors. Both cookies have stuck around and will be available this season as well, along with other favorites such as Samoas, Tagalongs and Do-si-dos.

If you don’t know a Girl Scout, you can find out where to buy a box of cookies (or 12) near you by searching on the Girl Scouts’ website. Just be aware that not all cookies are offered in all markets, so there’s a chance you may not be able to get your hands on the latest cookies.

If you are able to pick up some boxes, the Girl Scouts use the money they earn via sales for things like travel, outdoor adventures and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programming. The Girl Scouts say many of the girls also use their earnings for charity, supporting animal shelters and food banks, for example. Of course, they’re also discovering their leadership potential along the way.
