Calling all “Harry Potter” fans: If you’re making plans for a summer vacation, you might want to apparate to Orlando sometime around June 13. Why? So you can get there just in time for Universal Orlando to open its new ride at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Dubbed Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the new ride promises to be an unforgettable experience. According to the description in Universal Orlando’s announcement, visitors will get to “fly far beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creature.”
The promotional image of the new ride shows Hagrid on his motorbike with a sidecar. The giant but lovable character leads a line of similar carriages behind him. From the looks of the picture, he seems to be flying into the Forbidden Forest, with an impish pixie floating nearby. Meanwhile, Hogwarts can also be seen glistening on the hilltop behind the riders.
Hagrid isn’t known for being a slow-but-steady kind of driver, so an adventure coaster in his spirit will probably be a wild experience. (There are sparks flying in the promotional image, too.)
Since Hagrid lives near the Forbidden Forest, it only makes sense that the ride would be in that area. Plus, the half-giant has always had a soft spot for magical creatures of all kinds. Now, if only riders could spot real-life hippogriffs as they zoom around!
The new ride will be located in Hogsmeade in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It replaces the Dragon Challenge coasters, which closed in 2017.
Universal Orlando recently upped the holiday spirit of its Wizarding World by bringing Christmas to its theme park, as advertised below. It’ll be pretty awesome to be able to “fly” through the Enchanted Forest now as well.
Sadly, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood isn’t getting an identical ride. So for now, Harry Potter fans will have to head to Orlando to experience a Hagrid-style roller-coaster adventure.
