All Of The New Shows Coming To Netflix This Fall

As anyone who subscribes to Netflix already knows, the company never stops unleashing new original content on us — and this fall will be no different. In addition to new seasons of hits like “Stranger Things” and “Making A Murderer,” the streaming service will roll out dozens of completely new shows in the coming months.

Take a closer look at some of the new Netflix shows you’ll undoubtedly be binge-watching before the weather warms up again.

‘The Innocents’

Premiered: Aug. 24

This fantasy series follows a pair of teen runaways who find themselves escaping danger when one of them starts showing signs of mysterious powers. Guy Pearce co-stars with Sorcha Groundsell and Percelle Ascott in this gripping show. In a review, Variety contrasted “The Innocents” favorably with Netflix’s teen hit “13 Reasons Why,” saying this series is much more uplifting and affirming to young viewers.

‘Norm Macdonald Has A Show’

Premiered: Sept. 14

Netflix’s latest attempt at a talk show stars legendary comic Norm Macdonald in the host’s seat. The series features the offbeat funnyman having sit-down chats with guests including David Letterman, Chevy Chase and Drew Barrymore. Early reviews of the show haven’t been kind, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it a “trainwreck.”

‘Maniac’

Premiered: Sept. 21

This intriguing sci-fi drama follows two people who agree to an experimental drug trial that promises to solve all their problems with absolutely no side effects — which, of course, doesn’t go as planned. The show stars A-listers Emma Stone, Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux. Shortly after its first season hit Netflix, reactions to its bizarre style flooded social media, mostly with people raving about it.

‘The Good Cop’

Premiered: Sept. 21

From the creator of “Monk,” this series follows a young NYPD detective who always closely follows the rules but is mentored by his father, an ex-officer who did whatever it took to solve cases. Tony Danza and Josh Groban star as the father-son duo, while former “The Wire” star Isiah Whitlock Jr. and “Unreal” star Monica Barbaro also co-star. The show has a 10-episode first season that received mixed reviews upon release.

‘Hilda’

Premiered: Sept. 21

Based on the acclaimed graphic novels of the same name, this new animated series is aimed at older kids, according to Netflix. The show follows a brave, blue-haired girl named Hilda as she journeys from home into a magical wilderness and bustling city, making friends and getting into adventures along the way. Bella Ramsey, who has become a fan favorite in “Game of Thrones,” voices Hilda.

‘Creeped Out’

Premieres: Oct. 4

This new series, aimed at kids, may remind you of “Tales from the Crypt.” It’s an anthology show, meaning every episode tells a new story with new characters, linked by a masked figure known as “The Curious,” who collects strange stories. Reviews for this Canadian series have been mostly positive, praising it for being chilling, imaginative and packed with ’80s movie references.

‘Dancing Queen’

Premiere: Oct. 5

Fans of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” will want to check out this reality series debuting this fall on Netflix. “Dancing Queen” follows “Drag Race” alum Alyssa Edwards (aka Justin Johnson) as s/he runs a dance studio in Texas. Netflix promises the show will be “hilarious and heartfelt.” Looks like a blast!

‘Empire Games’

Premiere: Oct. 5

This show’s title is subject to change, according to Netflix, but it looks like a solid pick for people who love history documentaries. “Empire Games” will use dramatic reenactments and interviews with scholars to explore some of the world’s most legendary ancient empires. Expect stories about the Vikings, Romans and ancient Egyptians, among others.

‘Salt Fat Acid Heat’

Premiere: Oct. 11

This cooking/travel series looks like it could help fill the void left by the tragic end of Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown.” It stars food writer and chef Samin Nosrat and is based on her bestselling 2017 book of the same title. It sees Nosrat traveling to Italy, Japan and Mexico and elsewhere, educating herself and her viewers about the basic elements of good cooking.

‘FightWorld’

Premiere: Oct. 12

This documentary series will follow actor and martial-arts enthusiast Frank Grillo as he travels and explores the diverse fighting techniques developed around the world. This series sounds perfect for people who love mixed martial arts and the culture of fighting for sport. In the publicity images released so far, it looks like Grillo’s travels take him at least to Israel and Thailand in the first season of “FightWorld.”

‘The Haunting of Hill House’

Premiere: Oct. 12

Based on the 1959 horror novel of the same name, this new Netflix series reimagines the story of that legendary book. It follows five adult siblings who grew up in a famous haunted house and have come back together after a tragedy. The cast includes Carla Gugino, Michiel Huisman and Oscar winner Timothy Hutton.

‘ReMastered’

Premiere: Oct. 12

Music nerds will want to check out this documentary series from the Zimbalist brothers, who were behind some of the most acclaimed entries of ESPN’s beloved “30 for 30” series. Each episode of this eight-part series will take a deep dive into a pivotal moment of an iconic musician’s life. Among the musicians covered in the first season are Bob Marley, Johnny Cash and Sam Cooke.

‘The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell’

Premiere: Oct. 12

This crafting/baking series will be perfect for people who wish the shows on Food Network were a little darker. It follows baker and artist Christine McConnell, whose creations owe more to the inspiration of Tim Burton than Martha Stewart. McConnell’s 261,000 Instagram followers love her desserts and crafts that manage to be both creepy and beautiful.

‘Wanderlust’

Premiere: Oct. 19

When Toni Collette is involved in something, you can usually assume it will be worth your time, and her new Netflix series looks no different. This drama follows a therapist, played by Collette, who is working to keep her marriage healthy after an accident. The show will focus on themes of relationships, monogamy and other matters of the heart.

‘Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever’

Premiere: Oct. 19

This comedy series, aimed at older kids, follows friends in their last weekend before high school. It comes from Robin Stein, a veteran writer of family shows including the ’90s classic “Step by Step.” The entire series will play out in just eight episodes, making it perfect for anyone with a short attention span. ‘Bodyguard’

Premiere: Oct. 24

Americans will finally get to watch this explosive British thriller when it debuts as a Netflix exclusive this fall. “Bodyguard,” produced by the BBC, has been described as the biggest hit show to come out of the U.K. since “Downton Abbey.” It stars “Game of Thrones” actor Richard Madden as a soldier who returns home and has been tasked with protecting a politician who is a major supporter of the war that nearly ruined his life. The show’s first season is reported to be packed with shocking twists.

‘The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina’

Premiere: Oct. 26

This horror series comes just in time for Halloween and acts as a darker telling of the beloved teen series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” It stars “Mad Men” breakout Kiernan Shipka in the title role. Netflix describes the tone of this show as more in line with “The Exorcist” or “Rosemary’s Baby,” so don’t expect a campy laugh riot.

‘Narcos: Mexico’

Premiere: Nov. 16

Rather than making a new season of its hit crime series “Narcos,” Netflix decided to make a new companion series featuring a new cast and storyline. This new series will be set in Mexico, rather than Colombia, and will still follow the lives of people who work in the drug trade. Acclaimed actors Michael Pena and Diego Luna are the top-billed stars.

‘The Kominsky Method’

Premiere: Nov. 16

This comedic series boasts an outstanding cast and crew. “The Kominsky Method” follows an aging actor who now makes his living in Hollywood as an acting coach. It stars Oscar winners Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin and was co-created by TV mega-producer Chuck Lorre, who created “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men.”

‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’

Premiere: Nov. 16

People who grew up in the ’80s might remember the original “She-Ra” cartoon, which was the precursor to this Netflix reboot. The series follows an orphan girl who becomes a powerful warrior princess and finds a new family with whom she fights evil. The cast includes Sandra Oh and Aimee Carrero, of Disney Channel’s “Elena of Avalor.” The animation looks pretty vibrant and Netflix describes the main character as a “girl-power icon.”

‘Sunderland Til I Die’

Premiere: Dec. 14

Lovers of soccer and sports documentaries will want to check this one out. It follows the British soccer team Sunderland through its ups and downs in the 2017-2018 season. The local people who support the team cling to it for dear life in the wake of lost jobs and an economic downturn, making the whole thing a bit bigger than just wins and losses.

‘Watership Down’

Premiere: Dec. 25

Who doesn’t love author Richard Adams’ classic novel about rabbits trying to survive and thrive amid turmoil in England? It’s a great story with memorable characters, tense action and moving moments — and Netflix is adapting it into a four-part series this winter. The animated series has an A-list cast, including James McAvoy, Ben Kingsley and John Boyega.

‘Tuca & Bertie’

Premiere: 2018

Two of the funniest women on the planet, Ali Wong (pictured below) and Tiffany Haddish, will co-star in this animated series that’s aimed at adults. “Tuca & Bertie” follows two birds who are in their 30s and live in the same apartment building. It comes from a producer of Netflix’s acclaimed animated series “BoJack Horseman.”

‘The Spy’

Premiere: 2018

If you like espionage stories, you’ll want to check out this new Netflix period drama. It will follow the life of famous Israeli spy Eli Cohen, who was eventually executed in Syria in 1965. Pictured below, Sasha Baron Cohen will play Eli Cohen, and Noah Emmerich of “The Americans” co-stars in the series.

‘Green Eggs and Ham’

Premiere: 2018

Ellen DeGeneres is producing this animated series, which is based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved book of the same title. The show will follow Sam-I-Am and his friend on a road trip. The series also comes from one the minds behind “Wreck-It-Ralph” and “The Lego Batman Movie,” so it should have great animation and plenty of laughs.

‘Pine Gap’

Premiere: 2018

This Australian series promises to be thrilling and full of espionage action. The show is set inside the real-life Pine Gap facility that’s operated by both the Australian and American militaries. “Pine Gap” comes from prolific TV producer Greg Haddrick, who’s been behind many popular shows in Australia.

‘Death by Magic’

Premiere: 2018

This could be Netflix’s most dangerous series ever, as it focuses on investigating — and recreating — infamous magic tricks that have killed people. British magician Drummond Money-Coutts, pictured below, will host this reality series, as he travels the globe and looks deeper into these deadly tricks before giving them a go. Some of the tricks will include being buried under cement, dodging a speeding train and playing Russian roulette. It seems this will not be for the faint of heart!

‘The Final Table’

Premiere: 2018

Another show aimed at food lovers, “The Final Table” is an upcoming cooking-competition series that has global appeal. Each episode will see 12 teams of two chefs compete to be named the best chefs in their country. National dishes of countries like Brazil, India, France and Japan will be prepared and judged by a panel that hasn’t been named yet — nor has Netflix announced a premiere date.

‘The Umbrella Academy’

Premiere: 2018/2019

The popular, acclaimed series of graphic novels is the basis for this series of the same name. “The Umbrella Academy” will follow a dysfunctional family of superheroes who’ve become estranged. Netflix still has the premiere date listed as some time in 2018, but other reports say it won’t debut until 2019.

‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’

Premiere: 2019

Fans of Jim Henson’s ’80s favorite “The Dark Crystal” will rejoice over this new prequel series. The Jim Henson Company is behind “Age of Resistance,” so you can bet it will stick to the tone and style of the original. The show will follow three young Gelflings who inspire an uprising in the world of “The Dark Crystal.”
