News Anchor’s Terrible Cooking Fail Goes Viral And It’s Hilarious

If you do the whole “holiday cooking” thing long enough, you’re bound to have a year that ends with ordering Chinese take-out because something went wrong.

Whether you burn the turkey, or miserably mess up the side dishes, not every holiday dinner will live up to your expectations.

Enter the story of news anchor Leslie Horton. Her cooking failure was broadcast on live television and has since gone viral online, garnering over 4.5 million views on YouTube. It’s quite unfortunate for her, but fortunate for the rest of us!

You see, Horton works for Global News and was participating in a segment where each of the anchors bring a holiday dish on-air and share a recipe.

While she, admittedly, didn’t want to actually cook anything, her family pressured her into it. All she really wanted to do was go to Safeway to get a cake, and really, we’ve all been there before.

Instead, she caved and ending up using her sister’s recipe for Artichoke Dip, according to an article in Global News. Unfortunately for Horton, she decided to “improvise” a bit.

She used an orange instead of a lemon, she says, and decided to add celery salt and oregano for spices. “It turns out celery salt does not belong in artichoke dip,” Horton told the publication.

Her co-workers’ reactions to the cooking fail were hilarious, and the video has kept the world laughing ever since. Horton was a great sport about the whole thing.

“I’m so glad my cooking fail brought a smile to so many faces,” Horton told Global News. And it has certainly made everyone feel a little bit better. Because when it comes to holiday cooking blunders, well, we’ve all been there, haven’t we?

Global News shows the recipe Horton was trying to make which called for cans of artichokes, green chilies, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese and mayo. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Only if you don’t improvise!
