No-bake strawberry Jell-O pie is the perfect throwback treat

This treat will make you feel like a kid again! Namely because no-bake strawberry Jell-O pie will allow you to recreate your childhood obsession with Jell-O in a way that feels way more grownup, but that doesn’t shy away from fun.

A recipe from Kraft shows how you can combine strawberry Jell-O, fresh strawberries, Cool Whip and a graham cracker crust to create a dessert that’s light, brightly colored and tasty — just like your all-time favorite dessert as a kid. It’s super simple to make and only requires 15 minutes of prep time. But one caveat — it does need to chill in the refrigerator for about six hours before it’s ready to serve, so you’ll have to summon the patience you’ve learned as an adult to keep yourself from digging into this before it’s ready.

To make the fluffy filling, just combine a strawberry gelatin packet with a tub of Cool Whip (Kraft recommends using the Cool Whip Lite version to cut calories) and chopped strawberries. Let this chill together for 30 mins before adding the mixture to the pie crust. Then, refrigerate the whole thing for about six hours. Top it with strawberry slices and then enjoy your delightful dessert!

This video from Kraft will show you how easy it is to whip this up:

A version from Spaceships and Laser Beams also shows how you can make this with only three ingredients, in case you’re running low on time or just happen to have everything except the fresh strawberries in your pantry.

Instead of adding strawberries to the pie filling, all of the strawberry flavor come from the gelatin. Just top the dessert with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry to make it look extra fancy:

And if you’d like to make this dessert a bit richer, you can follow along with this recipe from Crafty Morning. This version incorporates just one more crucial ingredient — cream cheese — which makes the filling a bit denser, giving it more of a cheesecake-like consistency instead of the fluffy consistency offered up by the other recipes.

There’s no wrong way to enjoy the dessert. It’s all about what you prefer. But this rich and creamy version does look amazing:

Whether you’re making this with your kids, serving it up for your next girls’ night or taking it to an Easter get-together, this is sure to please the palates of the young or the young at heart!
